The main stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa were amazing choices for the roles. The rest of the cast though is not that good especially Lex Luthor. That was some shit casting.

@@rivertam7827 yes there are different hakas but you can't do the male movements if you're a girl. I wasn't trying to be negative but I was just throwing the fact out there that the females and males actions differentiates. They may have given her the okay or they may have not. Actions in hakas are generally meant to be okayed by a higher figure. Don't try to teach me about the culture when you can't

I find it so wildly appropriate that the King of the Sea would be represented by a man of Polynesian descent; the original master navigator and voyager peoples of the vast Pacific. It just fits so perfectly in my eyes.

I agree they need good, dedicated and awesome actors like Mamoa (which was a casting choice I had always thought was inspired and agreed with)... but what they REALLY need is a good director, writing team, and for the studios to leave them the hell alone and let them make the movie without all the interference.

Being a maori seeing our culture preformed through out the world brings me such pride and joy

His children boi, *breathes* are going to be great adults.

We all know he’s Hawaiian and not Maori. But he obviously has a deep passion for ALL Polynesian cultures that he wants to include it and respectfully display wherever he’s at. So what just cause some guy is passionate about it you don’t want him doing it cause he’s not BLOOD?!? Just like saying someone can’t dance the hula because they’re not Hawaiian. When there’s a ton of non Hawaiian people who dance hula and respectfully embrace the Hawaiian culture. And also it’s not like Jason is saying “yo look at me I’m Maori”! No! He’s just embracing all Polynesian cultures because while all different, we are all connected and we should be united and not being divisive over things like this. Pacific Islanders we gotta stick together!

Simply Free he’s embracing our haka whilst pissing on it. Dunno bout youse but I only ever seen someone break a taiaha on purpose once and they almost got a serious hiding from the koros and uncles and also his daughter is performing the haka like the men. Embracing must also come with respecting and if you don’t know your place than it’s best ya don’t do it. The only reason he’s getting a free pass is because he’s an attractive Hollywood celebs performing the haka alongside other Maori.

Samoan, Hawaiian, Maori as you know are all Polynesian so in many ways they are extremely related. While the Haka did start with the Maori in New Zealand it has moved very much into the Hawaiian culture over the years. Many Hawaiians have embraced it and made it there own, it is most definitely not completely identical to the Haka of the Maori. Now with that being said, Hawaiians most certainly can participate in a Haka, it is a part of their culture and they have the liberty to identify with and express it. They show complete and utter respect for the traditional dance of the Maori and of, now, their own. It should be absolutely no problem.

Hawaiians have done the ha'aa , their own version just as long as the Maori have had theirs. And anyone can do the haka as long as they understand its meaning and appreciate it -the All Blacks are largely white but perform it with all the passion a Maori would.

Yeah, that was one of the casting choices that got me excited about the DCEU... then BvS and Yawn of Justice made me unexcited about it... but any movie that has sharks versus sea dragons, and makes Aquaman the badass he truly is... count me in!!

Haka is one of the best thing ever !! Extremely manly and deadly!! 10 out of 10 to the legendary haka !!

Dude is legit. Always puts on for his people and his kids seem to have literally the best time all the time!

So this video sent me on a quest to learn what Haka is. Wow!! I've been reading for over 2 hours about Maori culture...so fascinating and beautiful and awesome! The people's of the earth never cease to amaze me....exploring and experiencing and learning about the variety of cultures and beautiful lands and oceans of this sweet mother earth is my favorite part of being human!

So Cool my daughters have asked me to watch this for so long. Finally found it. Allowing his daughter to be in a hakka is special respect. :)

Kia ora I am from Aotearoa (aka: New Zealand), thought-provoking reads below. I think it is compelling, how in our times different cultures, other than our own are now not only widely respected from times gone by but genuine interest has grown considerably. The reason why the Pacific Islands have their haka is because there is a DNA relationship, Maori for instance migrated as part of one of the 12 tribes and went thru the Waikiki (Hawaiian) islands through the pacific, through Asia, and some coming to Aotearoa...hence there is a lot of similarities in their te reo (language/words), hakas/cutural dances, and culture of Iwi, Hapu (Families/Tribes) as a whole. To mention as someone else did below, yes, a female would not normally do the same role in a Haka as the Tane (male), but the wahines (females) would sing/waiata along while it is being done. I recognize some of those tane who did the haka with Jason, one of them being my husbands cousin, Kelly McNaught...I think most if not all other than Jason were Maori. Well done guys...blessed to be from the land of the long white cloud...Aotearoa... Ka kite

Saw this on another site from a different camera angle and he couldn't step back because there were paparazzi 3-4 rows thick behind him. He'd have had to shoot over all their heads.

Though I do not understand what is being said, I always feel the charge from a Haka. And I always want to join in, though am clueless on the motions. I must admit the first Haka I have ever seen on video was the New Zealand Rugby team The All Blacks. And some of the Haka you performed here is in the one I first saw. Thank you for sharing this amazing cultural/tribal ritual. Also love that your kiddos joined in! Best of luck in everything Jason! Can't wait to see Aquaman!

i freaking love the kids. theyre so precious! theyre cherishing the tradition of the haka war dance. that makes me happy to see young people caring about where their heritage. honestly havent seen aquaman but Jason Momoa is the man.
