'The Guys Who Went On Holiday And Won A Piolet D'Or | Climbing Daily Ep. 696'

Спорт

The Piolet d’Or awards celebrate the hardest and most audacious big mountain climbs of the season. Each year outstanding teams are given the award for their mountaineering accomplishments.
Climbing Daily travelled to La Grave, France where the awards were held this year. We have exclusive interviews with all the award winner, and first up is the duo of Paul Ramsden and Mick Fowler. This is their third time winning a Piolet d’Or, this time honouring their ascent of Gave Ding a 6,571m peak in Nepal.

These guys must be the most unassuming mountaineers I've ever seen. "Oh yeah, so we just went on holiday, and that mountain looked nice, so we went up it. No biggy."

Wonderful what you guys did. I admire your cool reflection, there is perfection behind it. Indeed, all looks a bit like a Sunday trip, no adventure, no frostbite, no blood. This is the best way to become an old climber, being a good climber. Stay this way and congratulations of the Piolet!

There were 6 thumbs down on this? WTF? Got out on the wrong side of the bed or some such? "Yes, my hobby is giving thumbs downs. It's what I get up for in the morning." Geeze, someone needs a hobby. A big Cheers to these two guys from me! What an excellent team.

Very nice interview... Why the misleading title though?? These are not just "Guys Who Went On Holiday" ...they are clearly very experienced seasoned high altitude mountaineers.

Most of these questions were asked (and answered almost identically) in videos about previous climbs Ramsden and Fowler have done. They must get more than a bit pissed off, especially since part of their success is prior research, however rudimentary it turns out to be.

i like it in a way because it creates a nice effect when he takes them off (a bit after 1min in). he takes them off after Paul mentions that the only information on the route they had came from google earth, and the interviewer was like - shit these dudes are badass. adds a bit of a visual cue for the audience to realize what sort of an awesome adventure this was
