Wait… there are standards? Well, I suppose two wheels is standard. Although… I wouldn’t say it’s universal. Sometimes, you can replace x with y because both are compatible with z. But “compatible with z” isn’t the same as z being standard. And unless you can remove x using a hex wrench, you won’t be replacing it with anything (compatible or otherwise) without buying some tool which is useful for absolutely nothing else besides changing that one specific part of the bike because no other tool in existence is capable of getting the job done. The pedal wrench, the shock pump, the chain whip… the list goes on. Need to clean a brake rotor? Make sure you pick up a can of rotor cleaner, because you sure as hell won’t be able to get the job done with anything which hasn’t been specially formulated specifically for that and that alone. There’s even a special type of cream or lotion or something for putting on your undersides where your body comes in contact with your pants to minimize the effects of contact between that part and the saddle.

I totally agree. People just need to chill out. Unless a cyclist is breaking the road rules, then just give them some space and mind your own business. When I was younger I used to race to work, get really agressive, then one day I asked myself "why am I in such a rush to get to work"? "do I want to kill myself or stress out getting to work for my pathetic job"? After that, I drove like 'miss daisy', listened to classical music and couldn't give a sh!t if I was on time or not. It just wasn't worth it. If people took this approach to life, their hostility towards cyclists (and other things) would melt away.

@thepsychologist8159

Oh yer, I totally agree with this. I'm a runner (mostly) and a cyclist. When I run around the lake or on a 'footpath' I can't believe the cyclists who fly past me when there's little kids and families and it's amazing how frustrated the cyclist gets when they have to slow down. It's like, go and ride your $10k bike, decked out in lycra with your aerodynamic helmet, either on the road or a dedicated cycling area. Personally I wouldn't even attempt to ride my bike around the lake or on a 'footpath', mostly because I want to keep up my cadence and momentum.

Motorists hate Pedestrians and pedestrians hate motorists..but everyone hates cyclists. So about mention getting doored in bike lane..veer into traffic..and round the slo bike. SO council will remove half parking and have bike corridors..which all go in unsuitable directions for where bikes want to go so the just annoy locals who lost their street parking while not solving the cyclist problem...and where it did..the slo cyclists block the light fast ones who then ride in the road anyway..unless they are with an under 15yr old in which case they can rise on the sidewalk!
@thepsychologist8159
2 жыл бұрын
"Motorists hate Pedestrians and pedestrians hate motorists..but everyone hates cyclists" - Why would motorists hate pedestrians or pedestrians hate motorists? - Incorrect, not everyone hates cyclists. Only if a cyclist is disobeying the road rules would I be annoyed with them. Any other time, I am in fully appreciation of them.

@@xkimopye "suckers wanting to shave a millionth of a second off their time" - I'm a cyclist but I ride a heavy mountain bike to build muscle, strength and cardio, not a light-weight road bike because I want to go fast. I think it's hilarious when an overweight cashed-up male public servant will buy a $10k road bike because it weighs 500 grams less than a $4k bike, not realising that if he just loses weight, he could save himself $6k ... and go faster (especially after losing the weight).

Ah, if they own a car themselves, then yes they do. Also, if they have contents insurance then the liability extends to 'Australia-wide'. Finally, you'd be surprised how many motorists don't have insurance or, worse, third party personal injury (i.e. not registered).

I’m pretty patient with cyclists when I’m driving but God I HATE having to overtake them more than once (because it’s stressful)

Hi
You forgot one, all cyclists will feel they are entitled to discard their old tyre tubes in random places alone the roadside any time they change a flat, no matter how easy it is to take their old tyre tube in the same place they had carried their new tyre tube
Forgot to add how some cyclists will ride on pedestrian paths and treat pedestrians the way cyclists are treated by motorists.

Love this! As a (female not wearing lycra) cyclist and car driver it's so bloody accurate! You forgot to mention door-ings though 😱
Now I know who to blame for the countless cyclist we have to endure when we travel to Healesville through the hills (its the only way there from my area) 😑😮💨 so damn dangerous around those bends and blind hills!
If anyone is curious how to actually solve all these problems and make everyone happy, I direct you all to the channel "Not Just Bikes", so get educated. Basically, safety, practicality, efficiency, health, well-being, freedom, equality, no-conflict, time-saving, etc.
Clearly Jimmy was delayed by cyclists recently….
Hi
Motorists hate Pedestrians and pedestrians hate motorists..but everyone hates cyclists. So about mention getting doored in bike lane..veer into traffic..and round the slo bike. SO council will remove half parking and have bike corridors..which all go in unsuitable directions for where bikes want to go so the just annoy locals who lost their street parking while not solving the cyclist problem...and where it did..the slo cyclists block the light fast ones who then ride in the road anyway..unless they are with an under 15yr old in which case they can rise on the sidewalk!
