I love the whole dynamic that Azula and Long Feng obtain in these last two episodes. He thinks he's a step ahead of her but she's miles ahead of him.

what i feel Aang misunderstood, and Guru Pathik poorly explained, is that letting go of your attachments *doesn't* mean forgetting them, just that you don't let them drive your decisions when the more logical choice would be to finish your task.

This is one of my favorite episodes, not just of this show but of all television. The Guru’s various lessons have genuinely stuck with me and informed the way I live my life for years. In particular the bit of “love being reborn as new love” has affected the way I think about loss. Just a brilliant brilliant episode.

The attachment thing is something most people misunderstand, as did Aang. There's a reason why the 6th chakra had to be opened first, showing him that everything is connected. It is because all things are one, just as the guy in the swamp said. Everything is one big organism - the entire world, and even the entire universe. So keeping that in mind, it's impossible to hold on to the illusion that one person or one thing might be more special than another (yes, even Katara...). That is the last illusion that needs to be discarded before enlightenment. As we let go of it, we start to slowly realize that nothing is individually distinct; all things flow into each other and cooperate in a beautiful harmony, without anything being separate or disconnected. The only boundaries, limitations and differences are the ones imagined in our minds and accepted as real through our belief systems. In reality all things are different forms animated by the same energy, just like the images on a screen. It's the same electricity flowing through your computer screen, whether it shows a movie, a game, or just a single, blank color. In the same way, all bodies and forms are generated by the same universal energy. They only seem separate and individually distinct from each other. So the more we focus on the truth that everything is one, the harder it is to hold on to the illusion of separation and specialness. Normally, this process of realization should never be forced. It needs to be a natural thing, like the opening of a flower. Aang will have to discover on his own what his unique process is and how it will unfold. For now it might be, understandably, a little too much for him to handle...

3:01 i feel like they are just trying to make her feel like she is contributing in some way. they are doing most of the planning themselves, but they are keeping her in the loop on their battle plans and asking her to take the plans to the earth king to have him sign off on it because they respect that she is an honored guest of the king, as well as a close ally to the avatar.

Now that you bring it up, it is strange they trusted Katara with plans that require the King's seal. Logically, they would require someone of at least a certain rank just to handle them. A civilian from another nation is an odd choice of messenger.
