The Guitar, the tone, the talent. | R.I.P. Alexi Laiho(1979-2020)

Hey guys, as most of you know, we lost a true guitar hero earlier this week. Here is a video of one of my favorite solo of his, it's from the song "The Warrior Princess" by Sinergy.

This was not 21 yo Alexi. Alexi was already 24 when Roope joined the band. He was 20 years old when he recorded the Tokyo Warhearts album, which in itself is pretty crazy. The quality of the album is legendary and the whole bands' intricacy throughout the show just shows why COB is one of the best live bands to exist.

@@sheldo6t was 21 year old Alexi, get your facts straight. The video was recorded in march 2001 at a guitar clinic held by Alexi and Roope in Keskusmusiikki music store, Lahti, Finland. Edit: Also if Alexi was 24, he wouldn't be playing that guitar. That guitar was stolen 28th of september 2002.

The Sweetest, most humble guy , so much talent, ! He had such a great tone and skill on guitar! His own sound! Which is so hard to do in any musical format.. I was totally inspired by his technique since day one. Truly one the best inspirations, ! Not just with metal, and guitar. But with musicianship. RIP brother!
#AlexiLaiho was unique, the best Guitarist ever, he was a gift for all of us 💔
Would've never adopted this username 10+ years ago without his inspiration for my playing!
One of my first bands, he is a piece of our younghood.
As a guitar player myself this was incredible to watch but kind of blew my mind because I had no idea that Alexi was gone, until I saw this video. R.i.p Alexi you were definitely one of the greats, and truly an inspiration to so many.
I wish I would have gotten to know him more as a musician before he passed. I hear a lot of Randy Rhoads in him.

@@roumpinismortis354 Sinergy - The Warrior Princess Sinergy formed when the then Dimmu Borgir keyboard player Kimberly Goss met with In Flames guitarist Jesper Strömblad during a joint world tour. They discussed the idea of assembling a female-fronted metal band, but were unable to achieve this due to time constraints. When Kimberly quit Dimmu Borgir and moved to Sweden, she decided that it was time to turn her project with Strömblad into a reality. The first incarnation of Sinergy was composed of them, bassist Sharlee D'Angelo (from Arch Enemy and Mercyful Fate), drummer Ronny Milianowicz and guitarist Alexi Laiho (from Children of Bodom). kzread.info/dash/bejne/mZirrLWmYpDHZpc.html

His death, and probably his life, were tragedies. The heart and mind of an artist can be torment. We think constantly, and we unfortunately become disillusioned by reality. Those two things lead to using substances, alcohol included, to help us tolerate this life.
