The story revolves around Hu Bayi and Wang Kaixuan leading an archaeological team organized by Shirley Yang, venturing into the heart of the desert in search of the lost ancient city. Hu Bayi, who had previously gone through rural experiences and climbed mountains, arrives at Ganggangyingzi, a border area between China and Mongolia, carrying the only remaining book from his family, "The Sixteen-Character Yin Yang Feng Shui Secret Technique." In his free time, he diligently memorizes the words from the book. Later, he joins the military and ends up in Tibet, where he survives a massive avalanche by using his acquired secret techniques. After being discharged, Hu Bayi and his friend, Fatty, join an archaeological team heading to Xinjiang. After enduring numerous perils, they finally reach the ruins of the lost ancient city in the Taklamakan Desert and enter an underground "Ghost Cave." The cave is filled with intricate mechanisms and traps, seemingly under the control of a mysterious prophet.

Yo veo claramente al monstruo viniendo de frente a la chica como termina cayendo de costado. Yo pensaba que solo a Indiana le ayudaba el guion pero este personaje y la chica lo superan.

Adventure movies that take great inspiration of stuff like Indiana Jones, Tomb Raider and such, is something we should have more of. The issue I have with Chinese movies like these, is that they tend to become silly comedies that has silly dialogues, poorly executed plots and a lot of the time, overacting. It is clear that the Chinese, have every possibility there is to make great adventure movies, I mean, China has a lot of old history to take inspiration from. I only wish that they made them less silly looking. One of the issues, is that they overdo it with special effects. Supposed to be ancient tombs and such, but the entire mechanisms and such, end up looking like all alien like, almost advanced technology that makes no sense in the setting they are creating. Sure, it is fantasy, but still... they tend to overdo it. This movie is pretty much all that. So many chances to make this into something truly epic, but manages not to do it. I have spoken!
