In the late 80s I listened to one of his shrapnel albums almost everyday, super slippery style, excellent technique and note selection. The guy is great.

Guthrie Govan's Erotic Cakes is legendary but Greg Howe is SUCH a prolific composer, SO melodic and nuanced with his fast runs, it's almost not to be believed. Wheelhouse and Soundproof are PROOF that Greg's composing skills are NOT slowing down. Greg is my favorite player of all time. Hands down.

Howe's personality on the guitar is so unique and musical, I can see why Guthrie couldn't 'cop it' .. all praise to Sir Govan as he really is my second favorite player and he is (I think) slightly more technical than Howe, Greg's composition trumps any level of technicality. Mattias IA Eklundh is a technical god but his music is grating and clinical .. Greg is perfectly musical like ALL of the time. I simply can't wait for his new album.

DEREK TRUCKS .. I said it just before he found out because I remember the video! Derek plays SO musically and with a Blues slide style .. it's ALL note choice. You guys might love the album Lifeboat by Jimmy Herring. That whole album is like a Greg Howe Fusion very musical album ..

He doesn't want to limit himself to the guitar shapes on the fretboard so he puts it down to think solely of the music that needs to be played .. his imagination is in control. This is brilliant.
