This is not a screen test, this is an Oscar performance. The more i see of Michael Clarke Duncan the more a love what a great human being he was.

This is one of my all-time favorite movies. I've seldom seen such heart in film as it was brought by Michael Clark Duncan and Tom Hanks. Really, the whole cast was marvelous. But Michael....Wow. He was a natural and seemed like a good man. RIP, sir.

How tragic this wonderful actor was taken away from us so soon. So much pathos, so much raw emotion, he should have won the Oscar. Michael Caine, the winner that year acknowledged the performance of this wonderful actor. Also, credit to Tom Hanks, who always reads through lines with his colleagues on set, and clearly on these two scenes, was acting his lines. Another class act. R.I.P big Mike.

I don’t understand how can anyone dislike this video? The casting for every character in this movie was spot on.

One of the best screen test that I've ever seen. There are many screen test that are so horrible and brief that you wonder how the actor got the role. You can see immediately why Michael Clarke Duncan got the role, he brought so much heart to it and truly deserved it. The true gentle giant of hollywood, a big man with a big heart that was taken from us far too soon.

Trek001 very true! The awards season especially the year this movie was nominated really showed the world the ugly racism in Hollywood!?! He should have won the award for this movie. He along with the rest of the casting was not only spot on in this movie but all their performances especially Mike’s was outstanding!

ikr? Honestly, as much as i hate it. i think the academy when they don't who to choose, if the BSAor Best Actor race is that close, they'll go for the veteran actor. it's happened so many times. that year MCD & Osment both should've won that Oscar in a tie, two excellent performances. they gave it to Michael Caine that year. As much as I love MCD & HJO (in TSS), that was their most iconic role and performance, it really should've been a tie but the Oscars do that alot. I remember years back, the BSA race was thought to be between Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond) & Eddie Murphy (Dreamgirls), and they gave it to Alan Arkin for Little Miss Sunshine. And in 92, most remember the Best Actor race that year, some thought it would be Denzel (Malcolm X) & some thought RDJ (Chaplin), and they gave it to Pacino for Scent of a Woman, while Pacino was good in that, alot of people saw that as an award for the ones he should have won for like Godfather, Serpico, Scarface, Dog Day Afternoon etc. And that was a viewed as an upset because most thought it between DW & RDJ. They do that alot, it's a shame too because while I love actors like Arkin, Pacino & Caine and while those were great performances, those six are among many that most feel got robbed of an Oscar win. Look at how long people were talking about guys like Pacino & Dicaprio not getting one for years despite many great performances. That's one reason why some don't like the Oscars lol. Gary Oldman finally won an Oscar last year.

You don't need a score to feel like crying. I saw this screen test and I'm balling right now. That's the power and dedication this man had for this role of John Coffey. R.I.P John Coffey and R.I.P Michael Duncan. And rest in peace to all those souls who came to shine the light into this dark world. I may not know you all, but our tears shed whenever you leave.❤
