(Lyrics are up in CC!) A possible choreography interpretation/analysis Liu Jun said himself that "everyone is a masked dancing king", so in here, he specifically had dancers wear and then take off their masks, just as how the celebrity dancers did as well 0:04:-0:20 Opening is simple but effective. The front dancer mimicking the woah and then having himself revealed from within the crowd creates impact The dancers lean outward only for Jun to reel back in two dancers (as if "two animals"?) on the lion roar to dance with him, this gives very circusy vibes 0:20-0:30 Jun + the 2 dancers' moves are timed to the instrumental in the back while the rest of ZAHA are still moving on the stomping and clapping beat, which is a nice change of pace After this, Jun returns back to utilizing the woah + stomp phrase. The full stage is used as he enters center stage after the intro 0:30-0:44 The real show has begun, he starts conducting, the dancers are mimicking trumpet players. He bows for the opening (maybe parallel to closing bow later) 0:44-0:54 Liu Jun uses silence/emptiness here as ZAHA falls to the floor, which gives focus to the “taking your breath, stealing your mind” line (rather than if they did the same thing here) On “all that was real is left behind”, Jun takes off the dancer's mask 0:54-1:06 Starting split group choreo now, the back group moves on the beat as if rowing a boat Jun leans back & drags on the “fever dream”, with dramatic knee walking on "can't you see it getting closer" 1:06-1:17 On "feel it taking over", the second group starts coming forward as the first group knee slides back, and also takes off their masks On the "breaking at the brick of every wall", Jun "breaks" the wall, creating the domino falling affect of the dancers behind him 1:17-1:32 Jun jumps solo on the "do you wanna go" line, while ZAHA goes down with the same arms, which is much more effective than if everyone jumped and also gives him the spotlight ZAHA splits into two mirroring groups on "running the night", 1:25 is a very beautiful image, everyone is posing and posing differently, very fitting to lyrics and theme of song He kicks back on “impossible”, and then the two groups turn to encircle him 1:32-1:41 The concept for bridge is “reaching up”. Notice how he goes higher on the “hey, hey!” rather than what’s being sung His clasped hands go higher and higher for the “want” line (while ZAHA brings theirs down), he brings his face higher and higher on the “need” line, and then he gets lifted on the "in front of you" This creates a sense of expectation but also a surprise. Circling around is very hype move, plus gives a natural position in prep for the lift 1:41-1:44 The first “this is where you want to be” is used for taking the rest of the masks off 1:44-2:08 The second "this is where you want to be" is used as another climax part where he does his aerial to center, spins, then gets on his knees This is Liu Jun's stage, Liu Jun's story, from the back to the front of the stage He soaks it all in under the stage lights, very emotional. He pairs his moves to the adlibs 1:52-1:59 Third climax point is coming. Jun hits the stage with hand + stomping for dramatic effect on the beat This time, Jun “makes” ZAHA jump for the climax, the same way he did earlier ZAHA has to go from spinning on knees to directly jumping, which needs speed, accuracy, coordination - few dancers are even late 1:59-2:08 For this chorus, Jun repeats the same choreo from the first time, except rather than running to the next spot he tumbles forward ZAHA has different choreo though on the floor this time, also tumbling but backwards 2:08-2:26 First time waacking has appeared in his choreo (ZAHA). Everything from here on out is hardcore, high-energy dancing Not only is there so much energy/speed here, it’s moving forward as he leads the group from the back of the stage to the front The closing bow with everyone, everyone dropping back, taking it all in, lingering, makes you hold your breath till the end 2:40 You can see Liu Jun showing off ZAHA before they bow again all together in line Liu Jun’s moves parallel with ZAHA’s. He jumps, they jump. They tumble, he tumbles. They bow, he bows. Not sure if intentional but if so, it matches what he said about having dancers do what artists do. The only thing ZAHA doesn’t do is the aerial, while Jun has not much floorwork. Liu Jun is a choreographer who knows how to draw imagery. He knows how to utilize the entire stage, his choreography moves in all directions: right, left, up, down, forwards, backwards, There are contrasts, dynamics, etc. He is also a tough & intricate choreographer. His choreography is interlaced with floorwork, slides, jumps, tumbling, etc. There is really not much time if at all between moves, looks like the whole body would hurt, every knee was sacrificed including his
