The greatest NHL Cup Final in years

Спорт

The 2023/24 Playoffs were incredible the whole way through and were capped off with one of the greatest Stanley Cup Finals we've seen in years. A huge congratulations to the Florida Panthers on becoming first time Stanley Cup Champions and what a path to get there. They had to go through the still dangerous Tampa Bay Lightning, then the Boston Bruins fresh of one of the greatest NHL Regular seasons last year to then be met by the best team in the NHL this season, the New York Rangers. Just the goalies they had to go through alone is insane. Andrei Vasilevskiy, then Jeremy Swaymen and then Igor Shesterkin. This is a well earned Championship and it was great to see guys like Barkov, Tkachuk, Bobrovsky, Okposo, Ekblad and Paul Maurice finally get a Cup! I also want to congratulate the Edmonton Oilers and their fans on a hell of a season.I cover it all and more in todays NHL hockey video. Lastly, thank you all so much for your support all season. It's been a blast!

@@pats5375think it was a mentality thing. Florida had the luxury to second guess themselves and make mistakes until game 7 they had to completely lock in, in a winner-takes-all game (which this team is traditionally good at doing). The oilers, however, were now the more pressured team, no longer the underdog, won 3 straight and most expected them to win again. It’s hard to get over that final mental hurdle to win the 4th game, and the 4th game is always the hardest, which is why reverse sweeps are so rare across all sports.

The UFC calls their fight recaps "The Thrill and the Agony." As great as the UFC is, I don't think that phrase fits any sport more perfectly than hockey and the quest for the cup. A grueling, multi-month, potentially 20+ game crucible where every single night will grind all but the strongest into the dust, only to culminate in the height of joy and, for the loser, the bitterest defeat. I can't imagine the feeling of knowing that you've given every single ounce of will you had and it wasn't enough, and that it's quite possible that you will never, ever be in the position to redeem that failure. Hockey is a beautiful sport, and we should all be grateful that we have the privilege of witnessing series like the ones this last post-season gave us.

32 Excuses . . . 1. Jennifer didn't text me good luck before the game. 2. Draisatl had an ouchie. 3. Fuhr wasn't available. 4. There were no empty nets to shoot at. 5. Marek and Friedman raved so much about me, they made me nervous. 6. My personality transplant surgery was delayed, created extreme emotional stress. 7. I was in front of the net for the final 10 seconds, but the puck was in the corner. 8. Ekblad and Forsling refused to cooperate. 9. The refs called the game by the rulebook, expected more help. 10. Janmark didn't carry me, scored only one goal. 11. Was told Knight would be in goal, wasn't prepared for Bob. 12. Jennifer didn't text me good luck after the first period. 13. Tkachuk looked mean at me, hurt my feelings 14. McLeod let me down. 15 Ryan left me down. 16. Foegele really let me down. 17. Kulak really, really let me down. 18. Spent way too much time at The Cleveland the night before . . . 19. Then the ghost of the Great One haunted me when I got back to the hotel, couldn't sleep. 20. Hey, I knew Bettman would gift me the Conn Smythe no matter what, so I didn't need another dumb trophy. 21. Forgot to take my daily testosterone pills. 22. Physical contact was allowed in Game 7. Who knew? 23. Where the hell was Hyman, anyway? 24. Coach Knoblauch didn't kiss my ass enough. 25. Didn't know where I was -- too many Oilers fans in the building. 26. Nurse skated in mush, contract too heavy. 27. Some people are scared of the dark. I'm afraid of big moments. 28. Perry didn't do something incredibly stupid, shocked the heck out of me. 29. Maurice wouldn't put out his fourth line against mine. 30. Kane wasn't physically able. 31. Jennifer didn't text me good luck after the second period. 32. Is it possible that I'm not as good as most fans and media think I am?

So absolutely right on! I'm going to forever call that, lame game 7! There is no explanation for Edmonton tearing through the last 3 games and dominating. And couldn't play that way in game 7. Unless they had injuries, we don't know about Or as my friend suspects, all sports are scripted with all the betting money involved these days. I might be convinced to believe that. some football players have been interviewed and all said that.

Disagree with the Maurice interview, and being happy for him. I don't care if he was joking or not, dropping your own name is equivalent to speaking of yourself in the third-person. Besides this, his lunatic ranting and temper-tantrum-throwing is a disorder that should be addressed by therapy. Long, long years of therapy. Al Arbour and Tom Landry roll in their graves every time infants like Maurice show their asses. And to do it in public is even more disgraceful. And no, this behavior is not justified as a means of player motivation. People with obscenely bloated multimillion-dollar contracts already have all the motivation they need. If not, then kick them TF out of the sport.
