I stopped subscribing to Dom's channel because of how squeamish I get watching him do this stuff. Worse, he's not going to be able to walk at some point. Saw a video about climbers and how crippled the high-end pros get after 20 years. Parkour is dangerous but it's also about wear and tear. Dom's making a living right now but it won't last.

Its in our philosophy and principles “to be and to last.” Eventually yeah the body wears out but its not the goal of parkour and Dom just has insane genetics it will only carry him so far before he blows out his joints entirely.

Pretty gnarly how the worst-case scenario in skateboarding (i.e. kicking the board out and taking the impact with your feet) is the best-case scenario with parkour. Ali Boulala tried to ollie the Lyon 25 back around 2001 a few times and never tried it again after kicking out. Props to Dom Tomato for flipping down that thing. To me, as a skateboarder, that basically looks like a very stylish suicide attempt.

I can't imagine parkour as an Olympic sport, because in general, sports that can be done in a controlled environment are promoted, meaning if you take the necessary precautions you will most likely not get hurt. There is no controlled environment in parkour, but I do admire the balls of parkourers, you're awesome in your own way. I'd be proud of my brother if he could do that (until we get the medical bills, ofc)

Absolutely love how you did this video and what you included. From an older guy's perspective, these are big moments in parkour, but not all "chart toppers" for "Parkour history". I'm thinking of a parkour athlete being featured in a James Bond film, the premier of Jump London, Shell's Electric Storm and the birth of UK Parkour at South Bank. I feel like you could do 5 categories and do a top 10 for each of them. Parkour as part of a Madonna tour was probably the world's biggest exposure, adjusted for the time it happened.

I've spent 25 years in orthopedics. I love watching this stuff but am also keenly aware of the consequences when it goes sideways. I certainly would never suggest to stop this sort of fun. It's completely off the rails brilliant. But some of the injuries will alter your life forever. With this in mind, calling that ankle injury after the Lyon 25 jump a "bruise" makes me highly suspicious someone missed a talus fracture. I'm curious if there is any follow up on that one. High energy = high consequences.

DTs "bruise" looked EXACTLY like my foot looked. I've spent 5years getting my foot stable again, not to speak about the amount of painkillers I've had to be on, happy not to be a American but a European lol. I know ppl from the scene from when I was a kid that are in a wheelchair.

I ended up not being able to attend conventions, and decided to go to parkour. Man, these guys. I wanted to be like them so badly. 25yo software dev now. When I was growing up (12-13yo) I used to do parkour with my neighborhood mates. No training, no warmup, just a bunch of stupid kids that figured we should move around quick and swift. Got in trouble many times, jumped across rooftops, got into houses. Those were the days. The feeling you have during a long jump is just... freedom. Back in the day all our mates had our Parkour inspiration, mine and another's was Pip Andersen... Does anyone remember him or the old legends of parkour nowadays?
