I think this is one of my absolute favourite cars of all time. I have a lot of memories associated with the 221 shape S Class as it was one of the first lux cars I had the chance to drive and be passenger in. An icon in every sense of the word.

After the s850 brabus your wald design kit is my second favorite S.

it's Mercedes cars from same era with different sizes. what else should they look like? Also, real Benz guys like me never got confused those, when i see a S-class from a mile away Im able to recognize it instantly.

@@anuragbennet3957 Mercedes is my all time favorite but that’s just hard facts. The older bodies up until maybe 2016 all had different distinctive styles that set them apart. I have a hard time picking out which model I’m looking at just by the front when a newer body Merc passes me. I don’t think the E class, C class and S class should be so closely similar body wise and tech wise.

Exactly 💯..most of the new Merc looks the same. In Malaysia we only get s300l,350l & s500l. Swb only from Japan or UK spec which is a grey import. IMO I like the swb for driving in town & easier to park, on the other hand the lwb are for long distance driving. For me, this w221/v221 is much nicer than the latest S-Class... besides my v140😁👍

I have a naturally aspirated S350 and IMO the naturally aspirated version is more fitting to this car's character.

Only thing is that the m272 as you know the balance shaft, timing chains need to be replace.. only if you get the m276 V6 which is pretty much reliable than the m272 except for the rattling noise when cold start up which can be fix much cheaper than the balance shaft problem.

2007 S class 10k 80k miles

We have been owning a W221 S class 2011 model for the past 9 years and let me tell you this is the best S class ever. The most reliable one. I have been driving it from from my college days till now and except the air suspension which has given us a few hiccups during all these years, other than that this is the most reliable one and also to drive on a daily basis. It’s part of our family now and can never be replaced.

Please do not listen to this guy! Never put coils on this car. If you do it's not a S class anymore the air ride is what sets it apart from other cars. That's like saying The Jimi Hendrix Experience in the 60s should have just replaced Jimi Hendrix lol. Arnott makes air shocks for this and they are priced well. If you put coils on it you lose the magic ride quality and w221 rides nicer than w222. The only thing the w222 has over the W221 is a bunch of nanny tech which I hate anyways.

It’s the price of a Honda Civic, until you have to pay $2000 just to update the software.

As an s class owner that has done extensive research on this model. Most of what this guy says is absolutely wrong.

99% of the video = a guy talking 1% of the video = what appears to be an S Class Mercedes

But V8 usually are less reliable and then there always a problem in all old s class usually that is there airmatic suspension service charge is usually damn costly unless or until you can repair you car by yourself , you do also need a skilled technicians to work on these types of cars

W222 has gone much cheaper interior...less wood, less leather, & too much plastic.

Buyer’s Discretion, these cars are endless money pits. Check if they are periodically maintained by an authorised Mercedes Benz workshop. Anything will break eventually and these cars have so much technology, that everything is complicated, so many sensors and actuators, replacing the same can be a horrific experience. With age these cars only get worse. They will never be as reliable as the mercedes Benz from the early 90s because those cars didn’t have so much of electronic tech to break in the first place. The air suspensions let alone can be lakhs together to replace and although Mercedes makes parts for any model from the books of history, the fact that it is made in Germany, and the import charges will directly be a cut from your wallet is a frivolous smug face. You never know how a modded car would have been thrashed hardcore. So, a pristine factory condition with decent mileage < 50k could be the most ideal choice if you’re really into these cars.

I'm really into luxury sedans especially the w221 🤣 but I can't afford more than 50-60k a year on the maintenance costs. It has been really holding me back from getting one of these 😢
