@@LiveHardxLoveHard by the way in talking to people about your channel everybody loves it.. and I remind them to subscribe! The one comment quite a few said is... You guys could do a second channel with a title that lets people know what you're about and that's easy to find in case somebody forgot to subscribe the first time. A Few people forgot to subscribed and then tried to find your channel streaming on tv... but they couldn't remember the name of channel. So if your second channel can include the world climbing or exploring.. that would be much easier to remember plus would turn up more in search engine. Maybe something like.. best climbs.. climbing and exploring.. the thrill of climbing. In media as we know the name is the game 🎯 And if second channels takes off... You can post there too and maybe include some climbing tips videos. And great with KZread.. that no new cost is involved. There is a spear fishing couple from Australia that have done that and the second channel has really taken off. And they didn't even do a great channel name. So that was the feedback and thank you for always delivering such amazing content!!

Haha thanks Tom, and that's an interesting point about "hike." The first 4/5 of this one was definitely a hike, but that traverse to Crystal Crag is almost more of a climb in a few places -- or at least a scramble. We need a new word to describe an adventure that's mostly hiking but with then some spicy scrambling thrown in! ❤️

🐻 Yes there are big bears there. We lived in Mammoth for three years recently during the coldest winter on record and I had 1 close encounter with a 9 ft tall black bear. I was coming around a corner from higher up.. and he was right there about five feet away. 😵‍💫😵‍💫 So I quickly thought.. what's the least threatening thing I can do? I instantly thought of Joey from Friends. So I looked at him... tilted my head up... and said: Hey... how you doin?He stared into my eyes, and no bs.. he lifted his head up the same way! And we both backed off real slowly. A few minutes later a friend who's a semi bear expert saw the huge 🐻 bear moving away. He asked what did I do? I said I did my best Joey impersonation. He said I'm going to practice that 😁

What gravitates me into liking this hike/scramble as much as I did, was the life like feel it had & location. The ocular satisfaction my eyes received from the beauty that surrounds are very own Sierras & the struggles Adam & Elise went thru to film it and reach the coveted summit box. For the viewers I suggest trying to look at the hike/scramble from another perspective, enjoying the experience as if you’re Adam or Elise. Grabbing onto sketchy holds, feeling your muscles ache, your heart pounding from the precipitous heights hoping you don’t fall, experiencing dyspneic episodes but also enjoying every foot climbed, the amazing panoramic views and the tremendous euphoric feeling reaching the summit. It is Mount Keith from the Shepherd trailhead to Shepherd Pass. Junction Peak/Pass is literally right off the Shepherd Pass Trail. Directly out of the Big Pot Hole area thing. That is Junction Pass, so yes you can hit in a day. You can also do Williamson in a day if in GOOD shape. You can also go straight up the creeks, zero do it that way. Apparently, nobody likes the 7000-foot elevation gain on the Pothole/Shepherd side. I am going that way every time now. I have worn Kearsarge out. As a more sedate day hike, I like Taboose Pass. 9 miles up but the pass is wide and the walls on each side are very cool. Duck Pass is easiest aka shortest right there where you were. Lake Mary/George Crystal. I have never been to Center Basin. Where all is revealed including the meaning of life.

My heart is so full and I can’t thank you enough for putting these places on the map for me. Watching you guys back in the Sierras gives me so much freakin’ joy! Michelle that makes us SO happy to hear -- thank you very much for telling us that! Knowing that we inspired you to go to those joyous places really makes it feel like the effort of making these videos is worth it. As for the rocky terrain, it really depends on the hike. Our Salomon X-Ultras are the best for it, because they really protect our feet well and are still fairly light and very comfortable. But sometimes we do wear trail runners if we're doing a longer sufferfest on slightly better trails, or else approach shoes if we're doing an off-trail climb on slabs. But for really protecting the feet, we love the Salomons. ❤️

That's a great question, because usually we opt for the same gear as one another but this time we differed. I thought it was about time as literally every single person who follows me loves all my photos and videos, but I only put them on Facebook at the moment@@LiveHardxLoveHard

@@AussieAndrewsAdventures Amazing! They're goingt love that! CCC is over 30 miles with 11,000 feet up, and then 11,000 feet down which is the truly brutal part. Best time of year in the Sierra is usually May-November, depending on the snow levels of course.

Love you two! Great adventures and great attitude to go along with it! But I'd like to offer you one suggestion if I may. Please consider wearing a lightweight climbing helmet when doing class 3+ stuff. Risk management is an indispensable part of mountaineering and part of the challenge that makes mountaineering so rewarding. To me, wearing a helmet is a no-brainer! (pardon the pun). Without a helmet, taking a hit on the head from a even a fist-sized rock that has fallen 10+ feet could ring your chimes, crack your skull, and perhaps make you lose your balance and knock you off the rock - with potentially disastrous results. With a helmet, your ears might ring for a while, but you'd be OK. Keep doing what you're doing! I really enjoy your videos.

Thanks very much, David! We were a bit torn about wearing helmets on this one, because there was really not much opportunity for rockfall on the route though of course it could conceivably happen. And of course one of us could always accidentally dislodge one onto the other -- though we're very careful about not climbing in unison for that reason. The other issue is that helmets can sometimes be awkward and actually interfere with climbing moves, which is why so many rock climbers don't wear them even though you'd think that's a real no brainer since they take a lot of falls. In any case, your point is legitimate and when considering the potential for a kicked rock and the fact that the climbing moves on this were relatively easy it would probably be safer to wear one than not. ❤️

Hi Elise and Adam - I know the feeling of coming back from amazing trips and feeling so good about the place where we live ( I experiment that each time on the other way round : my garden is the French alpes, I go and hike the amazing Sierras feeling exhilarating, then I come back and am happy to be back in the beauty here as well… ) your video is stunning (as usual ❤), keep inspiring me, I put Crystal lake on my do list for my next trip accros the ocean 😊 - are you considering for the future to take with you (for less challenging hikes compared to this one) some of your followers / member of this community ? I would love to meet you on the trail !

Thanks Blandine, and yes we definitely are! Once Adam takes early retirement this coming summer and we begin to travel full time, our plan is to organize some hikes with subscribers in different states and possibly even other countries as well. We will talk more about that in the spring before starting our trip, and ask you guys which hikes you would most like to do with us, and then use that as a guide in making those plans! ❤️

Thank you, and that's a very interesting question! I think we're definitely getting more confident in our ability to make good decisions, so we're trying slightly harder things but also turning around more often if we think it's getting too risky. So in a way our level of daring might actually have gone down just a little, but we're also doing harder and gnarlier stuff as our skill level increases. Does that make sense?

I was just looking at Shepherd Pass and that Mount Keith is really a behemoth 13900+. As far as high peaks go Williamson, Junction, Keith, and Tyndall meet the criteria. (Like the peaks above Lone Pine summit Mallory Cocoran....). Even University Peak is a monster but no way I am going up it if I can go up Gould to Dragon off Kearsarge Pass. Looking back on it for high peaks Shepherd is my pick. Keith is an interesting one. When you go up the trail it is there and you keep looking up at it you keep saying Man that is a big mountain. I would do it and Tyndall instead of Tyndall and Williamson like everyone else. Shepherd Pass is the high pass 12880, it is a long tight, hot approach, and the last mile is smack into a wall of rock, strewn with boulders. You get Panoramic Peak as a reward and lakeside camping. I did Anvil Camp but it was hotter than three hells the day I went. Cloudripper is a very different area, this one is more user-friendly and vast whereas the ridge in the Palisades dominates. Shepherd area is massive stand-alone Mountains. In your current condition, you a primed for it. Big time. For a nonstop slugfest or California Granite. Keith will be the next one I go up if I ever do one again.
