The Greatest Gamer Of All Time

Ойындар

Faker shouldn’t have won Worlds again.
Ten years into his career, more than half a decade since his last World Championships victory, it felt like Faker would forever be the GOAT of League of Legends, but would never stand at the pinnacle again.
It doesn’t matter what game you play, no one can remain on top forever - people just don’t stay the best in the world for an entire decade.
And yet, at Worlds 2023, Faker did the impossible.

@@Wonderer7754 Definitely a fun watch! If I remember correctly, it wasn't so much as coming to terms with his age as he was still able to compete at a high level. But more so the fact that the team he has been a part of since it's beginning had forced/pressured him into retiring his position from the team as not only Captain, but also his account that he's had for years. Giving it to his replacement. I think anything age related is pretty much him trying to reach the top again with his new team before the expected age of decline in esports players physical abilities hits.

If it were other teams, the audience would've been so forgiving. Faker and T1 the 🐐! The fact that T1 was never in any analysts' final contender list says so much how people got tired of them when they consecutively finished 2nd in the recent Worlds. *All roads lead to Faker, and it's time to put the respect back to Faker and T1's name.*

I still get goosebumps watching Worlds 2023. The storylines on this Worlds, the emotions, and a lot of good content not only from Riot but also from teams. Orgs were releasing their BTS or some sort of documentary of their Worlds run and I love seeing a peek of the players' real emotions and not only what we see during broadcast. As a fan of Faker since 2017, it was really rough. I started playing league around September that year so I literally just "born" knowing Faker is the GOAT. For me, he was someone just naturally wins. Initially, I am actually not a fan and just hates someone who constantly wins. And I watched Worlds 2017. I fell in love with the game watching new stuffs being played like the Fervor Leona, the good hooks from Misfits. Then the crushing finals. That's when I saw Faker was not someone who magically wins games. 2018 was really hard as an SKT fan. You can't even imagine them winning a game. 2019 was a good year, most of it. That felt like the start of new dynasty but it wasn't enough. They started to crumble each lost they experience. 2020 T1, no one really thought this team can go far with all these young players but they proved they had what it takes to be the best in the region. 2021 with Keria joining, there was hope but it was not enough. 2022, no new signing. Just rookie players being promoted to main roster. But they got great results. It was really bumpy ride and I am just glad I sticked through the hard times and see Faker win Worlds again.

The value Faker brings to a team is so understated. Huni mentioned in his sit-down with Jatt that Faker's awareness of the game and ability to make calls a minute in advance allowed Huni to focus on his lane more and basically allows people to achieve greater highs without worrying as much about the overall game state and plays. Faker's calls may not always be the most optimal but by facilitating the micro leads can mean all the difference at the highest levels of play.

Yeah, he hadn't won since 2022 LCK Spring till 2023 Worlds, BUT He has continued to reach finals and accomplished feats that others would call career-highs. What's more, he still has a huge impact on T1's performance, considering how they performed without him in the summer of 2023. In effect, his greatness is now weighing him down, people have lost the ability to evaluate him objectively. It's not that he's lost his mechanics; It's just that he now puts the team's performance before his own. He is the undeniable GOAT.

Always hungry for kills, always aggressive and headstrong. As he grew older and wiser, so did his mindset and his abilities to lead a team of now legendary players. Still can't believe I got to attend Worlds at Korea 2023, their win was ASTRONOMICAL for everyone who attended and was a T1 fan. Also got to attend the and cried so badly at the T1 experience in Seoul, it was a look back at Faker's story; and our story as fans that have stuck through it all. Definitely would recommend going, even without worlds.

It's awesome getting yet another video on Faker, but it feels this time the narrative's kinda forced :/ While Faker's last Worlds win was in 2016, he wasn't just 'getting carried' for the next 7 years. He had some brilliant seasons, multiple domestic titles, and even this Worlds he was the primary reason to T1's dominance over LNG, which happened before their series against JDG. He was still showing top-tier form for multiple periods in the past seven years, though it wasn't the entirety. It's kinda unfair to play down on that so much in the first half of this video. Love great storylines but it'll be nicer if we aren't forcing into a 'hype buildup'!
