A very interesting lady. I know about her career as musician, but had no idea about her diverse interests, especially psychology, and thanks to #togetherwithclassical I learned about her foundation and engagement with communities. Thanks Midori for taking time to chat on this platform!

Tiffany, this was brilliant! I've never seen Midori interviewed at length, and this was so informative to me. I've loved her work since she began her career. Interesting how she played down the fact that she was actually considered a child prodigy as a violinist. Her Carnegie Hall recording at age 18 is astounding. Props to you for making this happen!

Cheers to Tiffany and Midori! To Midori for all her various projects and work to help motivate and teach young musicians, and to support music programs and nurture talent in under-served communities. To Tiffany for her efforts to help spread support to humanitarian causes like Doctors Without Borders, Direct Relief, and to other nonprofit organizations that assist those in need. The world is fortunate to have people like Tiffany and Midori. Their talents and hard work help others appreciate the beauty of classical music. I'm hopeful that music will help all people to reconcile, be kind to each other & help foster a sense of responsibility to community & society for the common good of the future.

Fantastic, Tiffany! That is not a number ten, but two number twelves in a row! (Your rehearsal and now this.) And both on the same day. Its no wonder that you seemed a little tired recently. Whew! You hit a Grand Slam. I totally agree with MIdori. The biggest thing I got out of my undergraduate psychology degree was how to properly do research.

This is a beautiful interview. I believe working with and within the unknown has to be one of the most difficult processes. There is only so much planning and preparation that can be done. Mindoro brings up a good point about one's passions in life, it tends to drive us when we can not see what is ahead. I am a firm believer that the heart leads us to where we need to be. The vision our hearts have are sometimes different than our minds. When our minds tell us we can go no further, our hearts feel the loss and suffering of the souls around us, we begin to hum. Hum a melody that enchants the dark and allows the rays of light to find us. Remember this when you feel defeated or lost. The light will always prevail, just a matter of time. So, keep yourselves busy with what helps your heart feel joy till the time change. Thank you 😉

From mozart piano concertos, played by tiffany poon, to flute concertos, played by james galway, to oboe concertos played by robin williams, to violin concertos played by hillary hahn, to beethoven violin concerto played by midori. Love these classical music association game, reminds me of all the great music i once listened to and need to relisten again. So where did i put my mozart and beethoven piano sonatas collections again? Hm ... and my beethoven symphonies and piano concertos ... magic flute ... queen of the night ...

@@bloodgrss Well I just think his skills at the piano (dynamic control, accuracy, pedalling, etc.) and his knowledge of various musical disciplines are exceptional. For me, having insight in the thought process of a person who has mastered their craft to this level is very interesting. By the way, what makes you say that you couldn't imagine a more self absorbed pianist?

@@xyzpno6847 He is rather infamously dismissive of other contemporary pianists. No aspersion on his skills, which ARE extraordinary, as is his championing of interesting forgotten works. @@xyzpno6847 Unfortunately, from personal experience and that of others in the professional music world. I have heard some shocking dismissals of young pianists out of his mouth-and others have reported such. Again, it does not undermine his own ability and musical intelligence; the world of touring and recording pianists is a tough one these days (I am not one). It is given to few of us to not be threatened by others who come along behind us. That is why I hope you are right and he would talk to Tiffany; a most interesting chat it would be...
