The diesel pulls it's own weight and generates electricity for the facilities inside the coaches. The steam locomotive is doing all the work.
@welsh_Witch

It's also there to pull it backwards cos no run around loops now and in case it breaks but other than that the steam engine does it all

The diesel doesnt pull anything. The motors are disengaged. All the diesels are providing is power. Hell, it doesnt even have tom the steam engines have a dynamo (steam version of a gas generator) that produces some serious power.

The diesel locomotive is ONLY for the train control system. Old cars can produce electrical energy themselves using a small generator. Either via a belt drive on an axis or with a cardanic drive.

It could happen with coal mines being closed. Heritage Steam in uk is struggling to keep a local mine open. There is a lot of opposition by the lefties. HS may be forced to import from Russia after 2022 which may prove to be too costly.

Everything Redd...every single thing. The external visible moving parts.... the noise.....the smoke.....the perceived eal danger of the boiler\ the firebox\the steam pressure and maybe most importantly....the smiles on the faces of those operating them, riding on them, observing them track side.......and for lots of us and maybe even you.....the smiles that seem to come from even watching videos of them.

King Orry Well I think you’ve found one
Go for steam without smoke, hot metal is an alloy where the small particles in each metal stimulates the movement of each other, that creates heat. The energy is from the Unified Field. The speed of the 3642 is 80km/h. With 10m2 40mm hotmetal it can be 90 km/h and add rebalance wheels it can go 180km/h. left front driver reduce 80g on the counterweight 5cm from the wheelrim. 2nd wheel add 90g 3rd add 78g right side: power is in the Unified Field front wheel add 90g second wheel add 89g 3rd wheel reduce 90g.
Hows this set up, given the C36 is a newer more powerful loco? Is it just a case of the drivers feathering speeds, or is the C36 pulling more weight (handicapped)?
nice video, I enjoy this
4:16 how come the back driving wheels are spaced farther apart than the previous two sets?
Reminds me of the past days
Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't these engines converted from operating on coal to oil instead?
