The Great Red Truck Debacle

In the summer of 2018, my good friend Rob and I set out to the middle of nowhere Minnesota to buy a 1965 Ford f100. We could have never predicted the calamity that would ensue.

I talked to a gentlemen for a week about a car. Met him, tested the car, shook hands to make the deal. Last minute he changed the deal only wanting cash, then a certified check, then to meet at the bank. I was mad he judged my character after spending so much time with him. I tried to find another car but couldn't match the deal. His wife met me at the bank to sign it over only after making them check every hundred dollar bill was authentic, which came from that bank! I was so embarrassed. I learned then we live in a paranoid world and it breaks my heart.

I have just found your videos this week , I lost my Dad a few years ago and tomorrow would have been his birthday....my Dad was a massive Ford fan and had a few Capris here in the U.K...his fav was the same blue as your other truck....I spent a lot of time with my Dad and he passed on his love of vintage cars/ trucks to me and your videos are so comforting at the moment as you remind me of him in some ways....my last day out with my Dad was at a car show where he was buying wheels and car parts....a memory I will treasure forever x

It's amazing where life takes you. One minute you can be so sure about something that you're willing to fly to another state, then the next you'll be forced to change all your plans. You either roll with the waves or sink. Keep going with the flow man.

I don't have a friend who can look at a tree through a window and marvel at it's simple majesty. Curious wonder is a gift, good friends are a blessing and not all lessons are meant to be learned, some are just meant to be tolerated. Each episode leaves me a bit relaxed, a little in awe and just happy enough to go look for that tree outside my own window. May your travels be safe and filled with happiness. Peace.

This video made me cry. I can see your soul in this and I love to see things from your eyes. What made me cry surprisingly was when you were recording your friend make pasta. You love him. You can see his character in grinding the cheese 🧀 on top of the tomatoes, that he beautifully cut. And you can hear 👂 your friends speaking about his love life and a mamaT giving her perspective on the events. It’s those moments of you taking in like a sponge 🧽 the beauty that is found in people. It’s like living poems. They are walking living poetry. I think you see things beautifully. When you made the comment about the light in the house. I instantly realized that I saw and thought the same thing you did. I was really living your eyes through the lens. It made me cry. I literally began to weep. What is strange is that I don’t really love anything because I say I just find things beautiful. Your content made me connect to something deep inside myself, and I realized that I see art in people. I love people. People in my eyes are beautiful paintings with their own beautiful colors. I sat here in awe that it took me 30 years to realize that the way people love music, or art, or poetry... is how I see people. Your work. Your work made me realize this. I love it. And I appreciate your content so much. I found it by accident. I’m in love with images and that baby blue truck caught my eye. Thank you for putting out such amazing. Amazing. Content. I’m truly touched at how you see things because I promise you, you are my artist soul mate (& don’t worry I am happily married) but truly your work is breath taking. This video made me cry.

I came across your videos one day while watching trout fishing videos, you have amazing talent with a camera and with story telling ! Your appreciation for nature and the outdoors is rare among young people your age, Keep up the good work ! I grew up camping and fishing the trout streams of North Georgia, since I was in my teens, and still enjoy it, many of the streams I've seen in your videos look very similar to ours here, some amazing footage ! But don't be so trusting of people, I've bought a lot of used vehicles in my time, as I'm almost 60, learn from this experience, never pay a deposit on something you haven't seen in person, people don't tell the truth, and always take cash to buy a used vehicle, even if its close by, people don't take checks anymore, and you can't negotiate very well unless you have cash in hand. Try not to ever go to look at a vehicle at night or in the rain, you'll overlook things you will see in the daylight.

I’ve watched your home transformation vid over and over, and sometimes just listened to the audio in my earbuds while I worked in my backyard. It’s currently my fave, listening while you tell your stories and weave various scenes together makes me pause and be present, as well as reflect on the past present and future, and makes me also take a birds eye view of my life. I love this story cuz it encompasses a large time period in your life, which you connect with the thread of your apartments evolution. I’ve been rewatching your vids from that time, and watching with a lens from this vid of what was also going on in your life at the time of those vids... inception lol I’ll watch this one now lol

Dang I was pissed at the guy not giving back your deposit as if it happened to me. Its weird I had almost an exact same story where my cars engine block blew on my way home from getting cut from a pro team i was playing for at the time. Solid video as always they always seem to bring that nostalgia out :)

We had a pretty wild adventure ourselves last fall while chasing UP 4014 through the Mojave. Our car broke down 25 miles east of Yermo, CA (about 10 miles from Barstow) where we were headed. Engine died while at a rest area. Turns out the engine was under recall so we spent two days in Yermo waiting to hear back from the dealership in Victorville (30 miles west of Barstow) and another week waiting for the engine to be replaced. I didn't roll with the punches nearly as well as you did. More a blubbering mess an hour or so after shit went down. But, I calmed down and eventually things worked out fine. I always say some of the best adventures are the one where things don't go according to plan or close to it. I'd rather have a hell of a story to tell anyway.

Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, LOL. As usual, I am sitting here drinking my New England Breakfast Blend coffee, looking out the picture window at my recently rained on property, watching you going after your dream truck, I was you in my past life. I cannot remember the number of times or the number of vehicles I had experienced doing the same thing in my 72 years especially, the breakdowns, lol. Talk about irony, I was just recently [2 weeks ago] thinking of my days when I bought an Oldsmobile 442, silver with black stripes in the center front and back how, I miss those days so, I bought a 1997 Chevy Camaro with Ttops Jet black. Nice condition, except for the inside. I drove 200 miles one way to pick the car up. On the way home got stopped by the Alaska State troopers for no tags on my plate which I never thought of. He gave me a break because, I am a disabled Vietnam Veteran and gave me a fix it ticket. I get home and as I walked into my cabin, I noticed my rear lights on and I have the keys in my hand, turns out I have a wiring issue. It's not better or worse than your story but, it shows we could be brothers from different mothers, LOL. Kyle! Thanks for another great entertaining story. I am going to admit, at the very end, I had tears. When you have great friends keep them.

Kyle, great video, and display of understated patience. However, had it been me that got ripped off for that $750.00, I would have sent the guy a 1099 at the end of the year for the $750, and maybe the costs of your trip! But you are too gentle a soul, and probably rolled with it, as you say.
