he was voiced by the phenomenal Jeffery Combs, he was Herbert West in Re:Animator, Lovecraft in Necronomicon, Wayoun and other aliens in Star Trek DS9, he's been in several movies and tv shows, and done tons of voice work. He's my favorite character actor.

Can we just appreciate that TFP Ratchet: -slapped bulkhead before throwing him through a wall. -took down breakdown, and lockdown. (Knockout, not lockdown. Autocorrect.) -punched Megatron square in the face. -tortured a vehicon. All in the same episode.

Ratchet's only really grumpy because he's unable to help out more than he does already, at least in the Prime show. In Animated, Ratchet was disgruntled by years of service in the Great War, and in doing so witnessing the fall of many of his comrades and friends while also inflicting the same upon the Decepticons. I think Ratchet is one of the best characters in both series.

TFW your oldest friend is a bit of a racist.

Not gonna lie. Ratchet is one of the few characters that had to go through so much pain. In Animated: Ratchet deals with a lot of PTSD & even lost someone he trully cared about during the war; In Prime: Ratchet not only also deals with PTSD, but also guilt & sorrow for not being able to do his best to help his comrades, especially when he couldn't fix Bumblebee's voice box.

This is why two of the incarnations of ratchet are the best ones! (TFA & TFP)

At 9:53, it always melts my heart that Ratchet was willing to give up one of the most important components of his body so that Bumblebee could have his ability to transform again, even if it was due to a nagging guilt that he could never fully restore Bee's voicebox. TFP Ratchet has to be one of my, if my top, favorite versions of him. He just has so much depth and Transformers Prime as a show has an amazing way to bring out the worst in even the protagonists, as well as the best.

It’s melt not meld

That, "I needed that." gag was probably the best one in the whole Prime series. They didn't overuse it and it wasn't just purely comic relief. It had serious moments such as when Bulk was pissed about missing Optimus or when Optimus had destroyed the Omega Lock.

When prime was finished: HASBRO I NEEDED THAT!

Aaaahhhhh.

I fucking ADORE the conversations between Optimus and Ratchet in TF Prime, they truly feel like old friends that knows each other better than anyone, Ratchet in TFP in my opinion is the best version of the character to date Jeffrey Combs performance as Ratchet elevated the character so much, now is the voice I heard in my head anytime I read a comic of Transformers when ever Ratchet is in, just like Petter Cullen as Optimus, or Frank Welker as Megatron.

Ratchet Was one of the good that made prime a good show. Because of all the memes and... "I NEEDED THAT!!"

I want Jeffrey Combs as Ratchet's permanent voice actor. His delivery is such a treat for the ears, and i really buy the "Tired, but still sassy old man" vibe.

The most dramatic line in my opinion: "optimus we needed that"

I have long believed that those that know how to put you back together...know best how to take you apart. Imagine, if you will, a mechanic in a demolition derby. The mechanic knows each car's weak spot. They've probably worked on most of the models entered. All it takes is a hit in the right spot. On top of that, Ratchet's a field medic. The last thing you want is someone who can't fight on a battlefield. No matter how skilled they may be in other things, if they don't have some sort of fighting training, all they are is a liability. Put those together, and you have a mech that can fight through a horde of the undead and come out the other side with nothing but a busted arm that healed in a day.

Ratchet:the most accurate and relatable autobot throughout both animated and prime series(seriously ratchet is us everyday in our lives)

Amazing video, but you missed the funny science fair bits, and this: Raf - "So, we owe Bumblebee's life to that field medic." Ratchet - "That's one way of looking at it I suppose, though the medic...could've done better."
