We used to see them fly over all the time in Dorset. I believe they were based at Yeovilton and were on training manoeuvres.

Vulcan sound summed up: 1) "ooo it's revving up, getting ready to go" 2) "Here it comes. It's getting louder" 3) *as it goes past* "oh look, my chest has exploded"

Apparently that sound is caused by the airflow over the gun ports.

I miss the Waddington airshows. Great memories were well captured. The noise was fabulous 👌 as ever. Thank you for the memories. I think there's a song somewhere 😅

Me too, they were great days in the summer sunshine with all the thrills, sights sounds and smells of sweet jet fuel. Just wish they'd get it back on because it's such a good location for an airshow and defo my fav approach, the runway is so close 😁👌

That Vulcan tho... Got to love that Olympus howl. Makes me teary!

Just love the sound of the Vulcan. Was lucky to see one at Mildenhall in the early 90s and I could feel the vibrations from the engines on my chest.

Amazing variety of aircraft: seeing a Canberra, Hunter and Draken is fantastic. But the Vulcan is truly a thing of beauty...

I once went to camp with the ATC at RAF Chivenor. It was full of Hunters then. About 1970 i think. Also camped at Coltishall which was Lightnings, my personal favourite.

That Blue note though, best ever!

While in the USAF, I saw the thunderbirds, blue angels, red arrows, frecce tricolori and the French team, whose name escapes me, but nothing beats the Hunter. The Hunter's unique howl is a show stealer ! The only thing that comes is when I saw a Spitfire and Hurricane doing fast, low level manuvers......beautiful !

That hawker Hunter engine sound was so sweet!

Wow, that was a great video. Exactly as you describe Bob, a plane spotters paradise. I used to do exactly the same at RAF St. Athen in South Wales back in the 80's & 90's. I could smell the kerosene as I watched this, ha haa. Thanks for the uplaod.

So awesome I loved

Well there were 2 planes on my top 10 list of al time Favorite aircraft. One the SAAB VIGGIN totally awesome, and then Vulcan. Two of the three most beautiful birds to fly imo, the other is the Mig-23 Flogger. Love how near the end of the the video as the Vulcans landing one dude ducks for cover, while others during these take off and landings climb the perimiter fence to get a better view. Crazy fools some of those pilots came in really low to try and spook those on the wall. Great video.

Each aircraft is impressive, but the Vulcan steals the show with ease! So awesome! So powerful! So fantastically thunderous!.... Followed in second place by the Hawker Hunter. What a fantastic sound! 👌👍

@@bobsurgranny Thank you! Always enjoy the sights and sounds of old aircraft. There is something about old British aircraft. To name just a few, Vulcan, Hunter, Lightning, Canberra, Vampire/Venom, etc! They not only look great, but sound great.

This location has to be one of the best, if not the best place, for Aircraft spotting enthusiasts in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧. Wonderful shots, I must say. 👍.
