Every so often I re-watch this clip. Each time I say to myself, “It won’t bring tears to my eyes THIS time.” But it does.

Here in the Windsor-Detroit area, a new international, spectacular bridge is now under construction. It will be named the Gordie How International Bridge. It will be something to see…..just like Gordie was. Thanks Gordie for all the great hockey moments. R.I.P. ❤️

Gordie Howe did not get in many fights after he established himself as a player. He was the toughest player in the National Hockey League. He was a big man for the day. And nobody messed with him. He had the most lethal pair of elbows of any human being, who has ever walked the earth. And he was smart. He did his damage when the ref was looking the other way. Without a doubt the greatest player in the first 50 years of the National Hockey League.

Howe was always my hero. In 1985 I was lucky enough to meet him and Colleen, shake his hand, and later even put a set of his elbow pads in the trunk of a rental car for him. If there was ever a time - imagine having my own set of Gordie Howe elbow pads. Obviously I couldn't take them. Funny thing is, had I asked him for them, he probably would have given them to me. Keith - this is perhaps the best personal tribute I have heard - albeit a few years late. I had the privilege of meeting him, you had the privilege of knowing him and following him close up. Thanks for this tribute.

No one ever mentions this, but I saw him coach for a 4 against 4 game in Hamilton, and almost every player on the ice appeared to play and look like Gordie Howe played and appeared himself when on the ice. He had a brilliance that always shone through. In one game I saw him score almost three goals in the last two minutes to take the Red Wings into victory. I met him twice, he stopped and took his time to give me his autograph. I always loved him, we had one special something in common, we shared the same day our birthday was on. March 31st. Great hockey player and great gentleman.

When I was 10 years old the Detroit Red Wings for staying at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto for the house me and my mother around and introduced us to all the ribbons and got their autographs. The greatest hockey player saying "This is Mr. Delvecchio this is Mr. Abel...". Many years later when he was on a book tour for his autobiography I took my son to meet him and he was equally impressed.Drove all night to Detroit to attend the observance. There was at least one family member to speak to every single visitor at the Joe. Wayne Gretzky was also there not only for the observance but for the funeral as well. He had to leave for Australia the very next day to do a hockey promotion "Down Under". Class Act all around.I don't care what the official name of the new Detroit arena is, there are going to be many many hockey fans not only in Detroit but throughout the hockey world who will always call it "The Gordie Howe Olympia" to honour both the man and the place where he became "Mr. Hockey".Rest well Gordie!

Too much of his best. Supposedly he didn't get his ESPN contract renewed this time because of his constant hammering of NFL CEO Roger Goodell.

Am I remembering this wrong, or was there a follow up to this where Keith talked about Gordie's family taking him to Mexico for some experimental stem cell treatment, and like a week later he called Gordie's house to talk to him and they said he was busy outside playing street hockey with his grandkids. Am I imagining this??

Keith Obermann is his own man. He sees things decades ahead of everyone else. Which makes him a misunderstood genius. Even with his body politic. What Keith missed on? His political team was just as pathetically awful too. Therefore...both.
