Extremely useful video! I guess the icing on the cake would be a final exam walkthrough or exemplar essay on the Great Gatsby/love poetry? You definitely earned a subscriber!

Brilliant! If I can offer one other piece of advice is to not let context dominate the piece, just engage with the question presented and pick your specific points rather than try and shoehorn in just the parts you understand. Very best of luck 👍

Hi! Do you have any quotes that are about the happiness of Gatsby about money? Thank you so much!
@GuigLit
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Joshua! Of course, one I like a lot is when Gatsby remarks how daisy’s voice of ‘full of money’.
Hi guiglit can you please help me identify the technique in this quote from Nick. “gatsby found what a grotesque thing a rose is”. Is there a technique?
@GuigLit
2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Great question. So immediately you have what’s called juxtaposition here, where two seemingly contrasting concepts in ‘grotesque’ and ‘rose’ are connected to form one meaning. That would be the technique that I would point out from that quote.

@@GuigLit oh I didn’t know juxtaposition was technique I just thought it was another fancy word for contrast aha, thanks for telling me I can always count on you more than my literal teacher😭🙏🏼

Haha you’re welcome! Ostensibly it is, juxtaposition is the technique of applying contrast so you’re well in the right to use that 👍 thank you so much for your kind words and support!

Hello 👋 Please I have a question ❓ Could you give me examples that show the moral decadence in The Great Gatsby

So in terms of moral decadence it’s found more in the actions than any specific incident - Tom’s affair with Myrtle, for example - however, what’s interesting is perhaps the one major quote in Chapter Nine where Nick calls the Carraways ‘They were careless people, Tom and Daisy- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.’ This is the best quote I would say that sums up the entire sense of moral decadence.
