When gatsby died and no one came to his funeral that wasn’t the saddest thing in this story no , the saddest part of this story is that he died thinking daisy was the one ringing on the end of the line , and even if the whole of New York came to his funeral even if Tom buchanan himself came just to even bad mouth him it wouldn’t have mattered to gatsby so long as daisy was there to say one last goodbye and that she loved , but she didn’t no one did..

The way that daisy left in the end even that she didn't know that Gatsby died was the saddest part of the movie , he loved her for 5 years even that he had everything he still loved her and she didnt said goodbye to him 😕😕

When I hear this song with closed eyes two things get in front of my eyes - one is Dicaprio in this Gatsby and another is Lana in this song and a weird thought is - Don't know who is more sad in Love. If they meet each other and fall in Love, it will be like they are walking in beach with no one, extremely silence between them but their holding hands say a Great Love story.

How did he love her so much? I assume it was all for her beauty and prestig, because she wasn't a good person. She wasn't even a good mother. I will always tell my sons if they meet a woman that already has children to make sure she is a good mother first above anything else going in her life. That says a lot about a women's character.

He didn't really love her. He loved what she represented, the ideal, wealthy "golden girl" who was unobtainable. That's why he so desperately wanted to believe that she never loved any other man (including her husband) other than him. That's also why he worked so hard to become rich, not only to get her for himself but to be accepted by high society. Gatsby knew Daisy was married and had a child but he did his best to ignore that. He didn't want to see accept anything that would ruin his dream. As Nick said, you can't repeat the past, but Gatsby stubbornly insisted pursued this fantasy that had sustained him for years. The problem was, Nick was right. Gatsby's inability to accept reality ultimately sealed his fate.

There is not always a reason to love at all. Sometimes, you just love somebody and that's it. It is possible to say 'Why her/him?' and get no answer. Your logic may find some answers to support it but they will be said in the service of love, unavoidably.

@@Anspol He legitimately won. He had her. If he had just accepted that she didn’t need to “never love her husband” then he wins. She loved him enough to leave her husband at that point. You work your entire youth to become the man her family would accept, and then when you have her in the palm of your hand, you piss it away by demanding more than what you needed? He had her. All he had to do was accept that she loved Tom at some point, but doesn’t anymore. So fucking sad man

the book and this movie were splendid. I should watch the 70s version with Redford as well
