I really appreciated his comment near the end, linking justice and charity. Far too few people recognize that pernicious connection. It's the sleight of hand that enables sociopathic capitalists to launder their reputations via philanthropic donations worth a small fraction of what they should've paid in taxes, and that buy infrastructure or services the public should choose for itself rather than hoping rich people's capricious vanities align with public interests.

Indeed. Solidarity, not Charity. Read Mutual Aid by Kropotkin, folks!

The fact that upward mobility is least likely in most unequal countries like the United States may, as he put it, inform public policy, but that discussion is a waste of time as long as those who benefit the most from inequality control public policy, right? So long as we support this idea that there is no alternative to Capitalism

Personally I think there are countries where there is much less economic equality.

I wish he'd been clearer or more consistent about distinguishing between mobility and upward mobility.

not being given healthcare as a human right is a large part of what separates the USA. I am surprised that not much was said about it.

There's a finite amount healthcare that can be delivered. Adding more people creates less quality healthcare. Maybe you could lower the cost of drugs, emergency and primary visits.

Lol. For some unexplained reason right America believes that economy is not zero sum game, except, of course, healthcare. If poor person gets healthy, it because this health takes away from rich person. If doctors spend time on poor patien, rich person is deprived.. It's like USA is not capable to prepare more doctors or manufacturer more medications. It boggles my mind why Americans compare healthcare to Birkin bag.

Isn't the capacity to built inter-generational wealth a key issues here that is framing the inequalities issues as lost in hope in the system. And, for many people inter generational wealth is housing; and we all want something a bit better than our parents. In that sense, those in the bottom 90% of society are stuck...

What a joke. right??!, They are straight up ridiculous. It is a fascist transhumanism fudalism.. Wonder if anyone tried to literally pull themselves up by they're boot straps you fall on your face 🤣🤣 . Lincoln was on the right track. He wanted to equally move all forward even worldwide. Afterwards all started moving towards what I first described. UN ranks us equal to the 3rd world countries. we have modern day slavery. it is about to get far worse with the worst Great Depression ever in world history.
