I am not a modeler, but I truly enjoyed your posting,I live in france, but come from a railway family from Grantham, my grandfather worked for the LNER, from the thirties throgh to 1953, my aunt ran the canteen on Grantham station from the war through to the fifties, and only last year when Mallard visited Grantham I came over to visit my 85yr old father,he dropped in the conversation, he had worked on the railway for a few years when demobbed in1947, and fired "Sir Nigel and Mallard" between doncaster and Kings Cross!!!!!! after that and your piece and that bombshell I am tempted to start
Wonderful models.
Well presented Tony and a great display of engines. Always look forward to seeing your videos, keep up the good work. After a 30 odd year gap, it was help from your stuff that finally gave me the push back into the hobby.
fantastic models and layout. really conveys the 1930s feeling with lNER garter blue and teaks!
great video! lots of history! would love to own them!
Wonderful models. I've seen some of the originals at York and Green Bay.
Hello Tim, we anticipate it to be shortly, the second quarter was initially envisaged.
interesting video. as a relatively newcomer to taking model and indeed all heritage railways seriously as opposed to just liking train sets I found this particularly useful and very interesting. Im a GN fan and lner fan too.. thank you
Fantastic Video I really enjoyed that I just hope I can get all six
What a well presented video, u ought to be a TV presenter. Such lovely models too. Well done!!

Very Good Informative "Waffle" Thank You
Full well at the 100th anniversary they will make a super detailed model
The one pulling the Pullman train was R2339 and the one pulling the teaks was the great gathering one
Fantastic Video,The 6 A4s look amazing. Will hornby make any more of the 6 locos.I'm going to the Autumn Gathering on October 26th.liked & Subscribed to your channel.
Was just reading about the GWR s Lady of Lyon which may have reached 130 mph. This was not a recorded run using a dynometer car as in the case of the Mallard. Charles Collet did not want to upset Mr Churchward and put it as 129ish.
Nice video
Interesting, Thank you very much
love the music thats on this video
i want the sir nigel gresley. i was at the great gathering nearly all day today and queued for about an hour before opening. worth it!
Gannet isn't a name of an A4 locomotive. The locomotive he picked up which he said was Gannet was actually Osprey.

Thanks. I know that now.
Dominion of Canada is listed on the Hornby website in LNER. It says on this video at 5:07 that it is BR. The real on is LNER, but is was probably (I'm guessing) still in BR when this video was being made?
I have the mallard and it has no problems navigating a 2nd radius turn
I already own Mallard in LNER livery, we recently mended a problem with valve gear and now she runs on 2 cylinders!!! We scrapped the 3rd cylinder and extra set of gear.
And Thankyou
Hey, how do you get that free case for the 6 of the models? really need one and soon!
when is the release date for these, Hatton has different dates in November
Will these A4's be able to go around 2nd radius curves?
Hi, you mentioned that non of your locos run without lamps, where did you get your lamps from as I wish to make my locos a realistic as possible. Thanks
Want them!
I was going to get one before they were pretty much all reserved, does anyone know if these hornby A4's or the R2339 Mallard go round 17.5inch radius curves (pretty much second radius)?
I’ve been in that station.
Mallard Is my favourite A4, closely followed by Union of South Africa
I cant see why they call this the great gathering without the sliver link or silver fox in there true colour (silver)or is this coming please reply with info ..Thanks.. Alan
I live in the USA, where is the Dewight Eisenhower located here? Would love to see it!

It is at Green bay Railroad museum in Wisconsin. It has been cosmetically restored to her British Railways Brunswick Green Livery. You should make a concerted effort to see Dwight D.Eisenhower in all it's glory.
Not waffle at all thank you for this
What is the release date for these engines?
I might get the Mallard for Christmas
My favorite A4 is Dwight D. Eisenhower.

I'm not that serious about going out of my way for a model engine. I am a member of The Vintage Trains Society in Birmingham and we recently had Bittern visit us for our open day. we have regular steam runs using standard gauge to places such as York, Liverpool and out regular week-end twin pannier to Stratford during the summer. Anyone fancy joining and keeping mainline steam alive the cost is a very modest £14 per year and entitles you to half price return tickets on the Stratford run. £12.50.instead of the full £25, just mention you heard about it from member 266 Mark
I want to see a great gathering set in G scale
One day I like to get the product
Superb and impressive video. However, your closing comments regarding not seeing a superior 4mm model appears to conflict with your review some years back of the A4 by Golden Age Models.

How are the locomotives coupled to the train I see no couplers no Kadee or any other type of knuckle couplers
@2KXMKR
5 жыл бұрын
He has removed the standard couplers (probably as they look awful) and added wire bars to the buffer beam of the tenders. Small sprung brass hooks fitted to the coaches will hook on to the wires. No couplers fitted to the fronts as these locomotives rarely, if not never, ran tender first. Hope that helps.
What music did you guys use in the video?

Mallard has had various liveries painted on her in her working life. Some of these have been LNER Garter Blue, BR Green, NE black, and some others.
my brother has an A4 he got 2nd hand cheeply its numberd 60020 (4465) Guillemot its by hornby but the tender hosts the motor its in the dark green and red strip livery xD i just think its odd how the tender cannot cope with the a4 its self as it wont shove it like its supposed to even though my brother who is mad about the A4 class thinks his is the cheeper then one on line for £130 one in the same shop for £105 as the one he got was £50

Actually Mallard had both of these numbers plus another. When it was working with the LNER, She had the number 4468. In 1948, her number was changed to 22. Then 60000 was added and she became 60022. This happened when she was working with British Railways

That was the first and last time I saw 60009 Union Of South Africa. I was going to go see her at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway sometime this week because she was the guest locomotive. But, If you go there, you won't see 60009. Because a couple of days before she was due to arrive, She needed some new parts (Valve rings and some other ring) so she would not be able to go. Thanks to the hard work of the NYMR, they managed to find a last minute replacement... Enter West Country Class (Spam Can) No.34092 City of Wells! She will replace 60009's duties and will be operating alongside the Class 101 DMU Daisy and one or two home fleet Steam or Diesel Locomotives.
