Even though when someone mentions Sancerre they usually mean white wine, I love Red Sancerre as they usually taste just like what I imagine when thinking "Hmm, today I want a Pinot Noir"

I wonder will red grape plantings could increase with time - as people will be looking for value PN outside from Burgundy .. 🤔🤫

Drink Sancere when I can find it on a wine list, and it cinches my choices on the menu to fresh seafoods. Thanks for more background on the region.

Paldies again for another great video, Agnese. One question: in your experience in the region, are all single vineyards better than blends made from different crus? I haven't tried many Sancerre yet but I don't want it to have the same fate as the crus of Barolo with skyrocketing prices, so it would be nice to know whether the simpler Sancerre are on the same level of the single vineyards - or at least not so far from them.

Well… i think it really depends on the wine maker and the specific single vineyard. There will be producers who will continue to blend their wines from several vineyards and their quality can be very high. And there will be winemakers who will be bottling their single vineyard wines because they can be sold for higher price. (As You mentioned). But that will also mean that 🤷‍♀️theoretically higher quality wine will be withdrawn from the blend, thus again, 🤷‍♀️ theoretically reducing the quantity of the blend. 🤫 Does this makes sense, the way I explained?

@@NoSediment thanks for your reply, it makes perfect sense, don't worry about that 😅 in any case, I just hope Sancerre prices don't follow Piedmont or Burgundy...

I am sorry for such a long pause, I was focusing on my exam and rarely answered to more complex questions, like Yours. 😉 Vincent Pinard is one of the best known producers of the region, and I am not sure about their current price (different sources show wide range), but I think Sancerre (comparing quality with other top regions) offers great price. Saying that, I would be much happier to purchase these bottles for price closer to 50$ rather than 100$. But the wines You mentioned are amongst those Sauvignon Blancs that can certainly age. 🤷‍♀️

For the love of Pete, Sancerre better not implement a cru system like Burgundy. I want affordable Loire AOC Sauvignon Blanc.
