The Great Bear Scare (1983 VHS Rip)
Фильм және анимация
"As Halloween approaches, the bears of Bearbank begin to fear an invasion of monsters from nearby Monster Mountain. As most of the bears prepare to leave the city, one brave little bear, Ted E. Bear, sets out to confront fear!"
Ripped from my personal childhood collection. This has been uploaded before but my VHS tape has aged better!

initially i thought it seemed like a pretty far fetched theory theory that the monsters would be coming from monster mountain but dadgummit if that isn't exactly how things ultimately played out.
I haven’t watched this in about 25 years, but I always remembered it because it involved a bear, and it had dissolve/fades instead of inbetweens. Thanks!!
I LOVED this cartoon as a kid!!! I would check it out from my local library 🤣

What about Scooby-Doo in the 80s?
Wow! Come on critics, it is interesting characters in a good story delivering an important message. Most importantly it seems as though it kept a lotta kids entertained while creating a happy memory! I purchased this video from avon back in 1994. It was a (fhe) family home entertainment vhs tape. Maybe it was created on a low budget, but it did everything it was supposed to. My kids loved it! Heck, even I loved it, and still quote miss switchs line, "Sorry chief there's no room on the broom" because I think it rates right up there with lines like, "but what would you do with a brain if you had one" & " but I want an oompa loompa now daddy!".
I don't believe it!!!! After all these years I finally found it. Thanks for uploading!
Had this movie when I was seven.
Such a remarkable childhood memories.
Brings back so many memories
I have this on tape. I watch it every Halloween. I got this at a flea market.
When Miss Witch tells Dracula that he has the cunning of a bat, she has bat wings. It is a blink it and miss moment.

How about that "Dracula" from "Scooby-Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf"?
Scooby Doo doesn't even relate or come close in comparison to this movie. It was one of my #1 favorite Halloween movies of all time, next to that was The Adventures of Rusty and Button's Halloween Special Which Witch is Which?, And Witches' Night Out, then it was It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, Raggedy Ann and Andy and The Pumpkin Who Couldn't Smile and so forth. The Great Bear Scare was a great masterpiece of animation and I didn't care then or even now that it's considered a "low budget" type of movie, it's on the cusp modern day technology for that day and age when it first came out. There was in general a lot of good kids movies and TV series but, it when it came to Halloween they couldn't touch it with a candle. Non Halloween movie fave of all time is The Adventures of The American Rabbit and even that animation for that type of movie imo cannot be rivaled, especially when I have never even seen or heard of any remakes for that and the Great Bear Scare.
Just animating the lipsynching is such a bold choice
Woah, talk about a random memory that sprung back into my mind. I always remembered that "Mumpkin Pumpkin, make me a bat!" incantation from Dracula, and that's how I found this video. I originally saw it at either my local library or from a video store when a kid. But holy smokes, this is probably the most limited animation I have ever seen. Literally using dissolve transitions to grant the illusion of motion between key frames that are a second or two apart. Did they only have a budget of $10,000 for this or something?
@geoffreyrichards6079

Ironically, the use of dissolves likely added to the production cost since those were a lot tricker to pull off in the pre-digital age.
Omg!!! I used to love this movie!!! Thank you for posting it!!!
Mumpkin pumpkin, make me a bat. This is why one of my friends has a bat tattoo on his left arm. It is how Dracula as a bat appears with text above it saying Mumpkin, pumpkin, make me a bat.
i used to watch this like almost everyday when i was little and idk why i loved it so much. The animation is terrible and the names are unoriginal. But i guess i got to thank it for the memories it gave me lol

Well, Dracula can't turn into a bat on the first try, so I guess the animators had to give him some kind of break. (also spelling error: that says “cant see themself” not “can’t see themselves”.)
