Another great review/unboxing of this Bible - • Video
Awesome review of other EDC (Everyday Carry) Bibles - • The Best Everyday Carr...
This is a fantastic bible - especially for those who want an easy way to read through the NARRATIVE of Scripture. Through the Great Adventure Timeline program by Jeff Cavins, you can focus on the STORY of Salvation without getting confused and frustrated by feeling like you need to read through ALL the books of the Bible to understand Scripture.
This Bible puts the Great Adventure Timeline framework at your fingertips every time you read it. It also has features like explanatory notes, charts, and maps to help further your study.
While there are some draw backs if you’re looking for things like: a specific translation of the Bible that is not the Revised Standard Catholic Edition, no headings or notes in your Bible, or a specific form factor - I highly recommend this Bible product and ESPECIALLY the Great Adventure Timeline program to anyone who wants to better understand the greater story of Scripture and how it applies to your life.

It helped that I've done the GBT course and am doing Acts with my parish now! Cheers, Coach! God bless! 🕊

Tom, Thank you for taking time on making this informative video. I am glad to see that you are open mentioning your religion, that is aligned with your goal so I know: I am not alone. I think the drawbacks of the Bible were not really drawbacks, but I am glad you mentioned them. For those considering the Bible, the notes are not in the text. Notes are either on separated pages, or as footnotes. If you want just to keep reading there is no interruption. This Bible is RSV CE 2E (second edition). Some priests uses as well the RSV, NRSV. I have not heard in mass RSV2E but it is not big deal for me. I like to read the Bible before mass. During mass, I tried to hear and follow the ceremony. So you are right: bringing this Bible to mass could be a bit distracted because there are some "words" different, but the message looks to remain. I saw you video early 2020, and I bought this great adventure Bible on that year. I have 7 different Bible translations, but I have 3 favorites: This, RSV2E, NRSV and KJV. As most of people says: The best Bible translation is the one you read! God bless you, and thanks for sharing this message.

NAB, RSV, NLT are corrupt bibles. Omitted words and verses such as, Genesis 3"15 "She shall crush thy head". Job 5:9 Job 20:10 Job 24: 9,19-21 Job 28:4 Job 36:16-20 Matt 17:20 Acts 8:37. Pablo i think that’s your opinion the thing is the Douay Rheims is a direct translation from the Latin Vulgate while the NAB and RSV are translations of the Douay Rheims basically no bible can be perfect as the Douay Rheims is a translation and so is the Latin Vulgate The Greek language has so many more words than the English language therefore we will never have a true translation in our language

I'm debating whether to buy this Bible, but I would like a little more information about it. What size font does it have? Does each book in this Bible come with an introduction summary or explanation? Are there footnotes, annotations or references on each page of this Bible? You mentioned that there are charts, but are there any topical essays or word studies features, and if so, how frequent are they? Are the margins large enough to accommodate those of us who like to write notes or is there other space ( half page or full page) provided for this purpose? What is the quality of the paper like? Is it substantial enough that it does not reveal shadowing from the print on the other side of the paper? How much does this Bible weigh? Is it a single column or double column Bible? These are just a few questions to help me decide if I should buy it. Thanks for your help.

  • @ChurchVidTV

Victoria Biel I don’t the font size but it’s probably 12 ish - it’s definitely not “small” nor is it HUGE! Yes each book has an intro to give you context. Keep in mind the focus of this particular Bible is the context of the greater covenant timelines in scripture. So it may not get into historical details, or cultural details, but instead favor explaining what part of the story were in. Don’t get me wrong, there are definitely a star on cultural details in the notes, but it will not be exhaustive. Footnotes are minimal. Simple “some translations use the word “angels’” or something like that. Paper is good and holds up with ball point pens not sure about markers. It’s a little heavy - when I hold with one hand at mass i actually noticed my wrist cramping (could be because I’m a piano player too though) And it IS double column. Hope that helps!

The GAB looks like a really well-made Bible reading system. I am hoping to get one soon. Just one comment from what you said about the Bible. The Bible, most especially the RSV-2CE is not a translation of a translation. It was translated from the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek languages used in writing Scripture. The Douay-Rheims Version, however, is a translation of a translation (Latin Vulgate).

Did using another RSVCE work fine? I would think its the same translation so it should? I also considered purchasing an ESV-CE as I hear its very very similar. Currently, I have a NAB and really would prefer one of the other. Not only to correspond to the Bible in a year series, but also I just do not like the style, and or notes.

One thing you have to do is listen to Mother Angelica classic teachings on EWTN.The RSV version has no inclusive language.Like for instance When the angle came to our Blessed Mother he did not Behold beloved daughter. In RSV version of Luke 1 28 it said Hail Full of grace the Lord is with you. That is Our Hail Mary I hope you understand better.

Yes, indeed, and shows how just little the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops cares about the Bible. NAB dates from 1970. NABRE (2010), with its "inclusive" language, moves even further away from the words written by Scripture's original authors, and these are the only words that matter. I know a bit of Hebrew, and wish that I had studied Greek.

Thank you for your insight 🌞 Yes, it is easy to feel alone in the church, sadly. It looks like a wonderful bible. I'm wondering which translation you think is best, especially since you have a master's in Theology 🙏 I have the New Jerusalem Bible & St Joseph New American Bible (gifts when I was younger). May be time to add a new edition.. I've been hearing about the Didache Bible. I'm not keen on recent modern translation I hear at mass. For example: "fishers of people" instead of Jesus' original words "fishers of men" (which includes men & women, as man is mankind).. I'm confused why the church seems to try to be "politically correct". So weird 😣 I appreciate your advice & insight 🙂 God Bless you & your family 🙏✝️💗

You can't purchase an NAB bible, they're out of print. You can get the NABRE, the updated version. One of the main reasons the NAB is still in use and hasn't been replaced is basically logistics and money. Think about the massive undertaking and amount of money it will take to replace everything everywhere with a new translation of the Bible.

you're wrong to say "the bible is a translation of a translation of a translation". that's the false narrative a lot of people wanna spin when they claim some translators have twisted things over time to fit their own narrative. while yes the bible is translated in just about if not every language out there, they all are being translated from the original Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic texts. while there are many different versions of the bible, they vary because like you said language doesn't translate in one specific way, and sometimes things don't make sense translated like expressions, so you have to reword it to get the same meaning from the text. ultimately all the different bibles are subtle variations in translation due to it not only being different people translating, but using different approaches like "general message" approach, and "word for word" approach or a bit of a blend. suggesting that it's "the bible is a translation of a translation of a translation" makes it sound like a game of telephone and that the modern versions could easily be questioned on their authenticity. i see you addressed the different approaches to translating, and you seem to believe in the Bible, so it's not like i think you you're questioning the authenticity of the modern bibles, but that specific sentence "the bible is a translation of a translation of a translation" is false, and is what Atheists or people with political agendas that go against Christian teachings like to say to defend their claims.

RSV is the more authentic translation because bible needs to be author intended not reader intended. A Bible should be written with the mind set to let people know what God wants us to know not what we want to hear. Unfortunately other translations are just trying to please people... Just my opinion...

Funny, I say, because that is precisely what the Reformed (Calvin) branch of Protestantism does. The Baptists do the same but call the periods "dispensations." Their idea, unknowingly invoked by you, is that to rightly understand any passage of Scripture, you must first take note of what "dispensation" it appears in. That is why they speak proudly of "rightly dividing the Word." Only those who do so, according to them, know what they're reading. Does this mean the Catholics are finally catching on? (Say it isn't so!)

So the clickbait is the fake title heading: "...Why you SHOULDN'T get it!", while the review itself is effusive in it's praise of The Great Adventure Catholic Bible. You would think that a true religious sensibility would rule out a dishonest advert in order to gain a little more money from increased views, but I guess in these times modernity corrupts everything.

NAB, RSV, NLT are corrupt protestant bibles. Omitted words and verses such as, Genesis 3"15 "She shall crush thy head". Job 5:9 Job 20:10 Job 24: 9,19-21 Job 28:4 Job 36:16-20 Matt 17:20 Acts 8:37. Mark 9:29 "Prayer & Fasting". 1 John 5:7 "there are three who give testimony in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost. And these three are one". Luke 1: 28 "Hail full of grace, the Lord is with thee, Blessed art thou among women". John 2:4 "what is that to me and to thee? My hour has not yet come". The Douay Rheims is the only correct Bible in English.

Rather a dishonest, cheap, marketing ploy to draw in the potential customer. The criticisms were hardly valid ones. More like a justification for buying the Bible. It would have been more honest to say SHOULD instead of SHOULDN'T

Sorry you feel that way. I think there are a number of reasons why NOT to get this Bible: size, weight, not wanting a bunch of extras like notes and charts and graphs. Perhaps you don't like the translation either. All of these are valid reasons to not purchase this Bible - and reasons why I don't use it as my everyday carry BIble, but rather for the Bible I bring to church with me.

@@ChurchVidTV I was ready to buy this Bible and while ready to checkout I just noticed this little note about the author, "Jeff Cavins is an evangelist, author, biblical scholar, and the creator of the Great Adventure Bible Study Program and the Great Adventure Catholic Bible." Is that correct, is the author an evangelist, non Catholic? What version is this Bible?

Of course the Bible is so confusing. The Bible is not complete. It has words added and taken out. That's why you cannot go by the Bible. You have to go by the Holy Spirit. The holy spirit will tell you the true history of God's people. Not the tainted version in the Bible
