The 'Gower Princess' lands at Cynheidre 24/06/2014

The diminutive 1940 built Ruston Hornsby 200793 now named 'Gower Princess' has been brought from the Pontypool & Blaenafon Railway to the Llanelly & Mynydd Mawr Railway.
Something I haven't witnessed before, it that it was offloaded by the Lorry's on board crane. The loco hasn't run for over eighteen months, so it took a while with the help if the Railway's Sentinel to get it running at its new home.
Everything went to plan, and this little loco will be a great addition to the Railway.

    Brilliant video Bob. Its a small diesel, but great to have an addition to the railway. It was easy to lift of the lorry with the HI-AB straight on to the rails. Great to see her working after some perseverance. (C&A)

    Excellent as usual,Bob. Nice little loco and nice to see a re-railing that wasn't performed by a committee with no clear leader, just the HI-AB driver and one man on the ground. Straight on in one. Marvelous. Regards, Pete.

    Pete Knight It spent many years at Southall Gas Works, then at Corus up in the North East of England, it went to the Swansea Vale Railway, up to the P&BR, and now to the L&MMR....hope that helps...as a new arrival at Cynheidre and privately own, I haven't had a chance yet to get its full history...Regards...Bob

    Well detailed captured and edited video Bob, and a fine day to film the event. Well done to the staff member for sticking with it on the footplate until the little Ruston kicked into life! She seemed to run quite nicely once she was running. Any idea what power rating she has? The Sentinel is a bit of a brute by comparison and looks powerful! Do you know what her power rating is? I'll take a look on the website as I'm always in favour of volunteers opening up old lines of the past. I did notice an old GWR sign but assume this was latterly a coal line, or have I got it wrong? Well done to you and the volunteers. Thanks. Ken

  • @robmasterman

    @robmasterman

    10 жыл бұрын

    Thanks Ken, it's the first time that the Ruston has fired up for about 18 months, unfortunately at the moment, I can't answer your question as to their respective power output....This centre is built on the site of the old Cynheidre Coal Mine, and the line that served it was running as a tramroad as far back as 1802....Regards...Bob
