Hey what is your ultralight set up
One day, a few years back, I was fishing the shoreline of a local river, & an Environmental Police Officer (Game Warden) was walking the shoreline also, and picking stuff up along the way. When I asked him what he was picking up, he said it was used/discarded Power Bait. “We just wrapped up a study that found it only takes 2 Power Eggs to kill a duckling, so I’m doing my part to save as many as I can. Please let the other folks using them know about this, and to not leave them where you fish!”

Look up how to make your own power bait. Literally is just flour and water. Knead it well to develop the gluten, the final texture makes it stick to a hook better. The only downside if you're casting out often, it dissolves quicker than powerbait. So if you're fishing with a bobber and casting often you have to replace it often. Other than that you just have to add whatever flavor you want. I add garlic powder and finely chopped chicken liver. If you roll them in the balls and put them in the microwave for short. Of time they become floating powerbait balls. Just too small test batches to give him the float right in a cup of water You can even add food coloring to get a color you like. 1 remember watching a KZread video comparing the different colors the power base to see what fish like to bite. Anything pink or red is usually the best. Probably cause it's bright and represents the color of blood and flesh. For homemade catfish bait, chicken liver is a very good bait, but is a pain to get on your hook. That's why you cut up chicken breast, and marinated in blended chicken liver, Cherry Kool-Aid, and garlic powder. Stays on the hook, has a bright color cuz the Cherry Kool-Aid, and the taste and smell of chicken liver and garlic. Even the sugary taste of the Kool-Aid is a flavor they like

One of my favorite things to do is to when I’m in Pennsylvania is to actually go to the nurseries where they are grown. They are free to go to, and they sell bags of fish food that you can feed to the fish in the tanks. It’s really fun and if you dump enough in you can see a jumble of top water blowups.

In my state of Indiana they stock more striped bass then anything. Especially in one massive local lake that had some kind of invasive minnow population so they released stripers to control it and they release more every few years along with releasing wipers.
Did you know the government stocks pray for you to hunt at the local zoo 🤣🤣🤣

For those wanting to target trout, check your local regulations, many places don’t allow use of treble hooks when targeting trout (or even using treble hooks in certain bodies of water, as well as restricting live/dead bait, and stuff like power bait or gulp) and some places are even fly fishing only!

Stockings / fisheries is the biggest waste of money ever. If you stock an isolated body of water once with native fry and the population can’t survive then those fish have no business being there. We’re just doing everything possible at this point besides actually letting nature restore good fishing and hunting by itself.

If you're going to fish make sure to buy a fishing guide from whatever state you are in. Here in PA you are limited to how many fish you can eat because of the chemicals from farming that made their way into the different bodies of water. I'm in NE PA and some of the lakes and ponds here limit you to eating 1 fish every 1 to 3 months. It's good to know information.
