Morgan before you let animals by the new barn , run a metal detector around it to check for loose nails , especially for hooves animals as they don’t always notice them when they step on it till it requires major hoof repair

Wow, the new barn is coming along quite nicely. I remember this little gosling and was so happy you were able to find her a new home, and it worked out great. Amazing how empty the hoop house looks these days, I guess they are so happy to be out and about in the fresh Spring air. All is well at Gold Shaw Farm, thanks for sharing Morgan.

Aww I needed to see Toby and Abby dog basking in the sun just enjoying life. I love how funny Toby is with his food, taking it away and guarding it for a while, just enjoying it's existence and taking his time, funny little thing he's just too darn adorable. The barn is coming along amazingly!, seeing how much and how far you and the farm have grown over time. Been here from the early beginnings and couldn't be happening to a better guy. Same here in Cyprus. Was like this last year, too. Celebrated the temps here with a dip in the pool. Water reached 34 deg Celsius and was like bath water!

@@ashg2895 I usually don't like swimming in water that warm, either. But it was my only day off and I was facing a return to work, the next day, so I thought, "You have to try it!" Usually, I'm in work until 6/7pm, so by the time I get home from work, the air is nice and cool, but the pool water is still decently warm, so it is a nice contrast.

Morgan, when the eggs are ready to hatch, you should remove the dividers and allow for room for the eggs to rotate slightly as they are hatching. Look at how "A chick called Albert" allows his eggs to have a lot of space to hatch. The birds often need the egg to rotate; if it is stuck in place, the bird can die of exhaustion.

I may be getting an imagined flashback from my childhood, but "The Goose with the Crooked Mouth" sounds like a story I was told. Looks like in reality there was a happy ending with the goose in question finding her people (aka ducks) living happily ever after. Thanks for the update!

I don't respond too often to the videos I just like to watch and enjoy. However, the other day I made a major faux pas suggesting that one of the pigs could be named Charlotte after Charlotte's Web. I'm so surprised that no one corrected the fact that I was making that Charlotte was a Pig! Charlotte was the spider and the pig was Wilbur!! Well, that's what happens when you get old!😊😢

Thank goodness the cross beaked goose got a good long term home & she is happy, I felt so sad seeing that beak! ❤. Abbie & Toby are such good natured furrbabies! Piggies seem happy with the junk food! Poor piggy with the hernia, hope they get to live happy because I just don’t watch the bad day. Hope your incubated eggs all hatch healthy chicks or gooselings (sp). 🤗❤️

PS - the only danger from Raptors might be around the pond - Eagles hunt/eat coots, a type of waterbird similar to ducks

You put gravel in the dogs runs, so they don’t sit in mud if the mud tends to come up, use those plastic grate for rocks underneath to keep them up. It’s is awesome and will keep the mud out. 😊

You could do Duckuaponics!!!!! Use a sump pump and hose to move the poopy duck water. Plants LOVE it.

Wonderful to see the pace of the quality build of the new barn. I am not sure the North / South orientation of the roof, but have you considered installing a fooftop solar array? If so, a trench can connect the conductors from the new solar array to your existing Tesla Powerwall in the old barn or you can create a new "lithium" battery bank in the new barn to provide sustainable energy for the farm structures? As you are probably aware, the IRA of 2022 allows for financial rebates for residential/commercial investments in renewable energy.

Hey there, for ducks chickens, geese. The best way to break them from a nest is actually getting a dog cage you can reuse. Or a space you can "isolate them" from other geese and the nest etc. Like your chicken tractors you have. Give them food water etc. And do it for 3 days. May take a bit longer and sometimes it doesn't work. But I highly recommend trying.

Morgan - With regards to the spigot on the water barrel for the pigs: Suggest you either watch the video (about 2-4 weeks ago) from The Hollar Homestead during which Ben fixed his water barrel spigots (Meg probably knows which video) or call Ben.

Call one of the sopranos pigs “pool ducks”. The plural is funny It’s arguably a collective b side sopranos character. There are actual immediate duck neighbors who will never see a pool. It’s just a good name.

I heard that if you have crows in the area, you can leave dried bread (or kibbles) out to keep them in the area. they are supposedly great deterrent to aerial attacks.

Not long ago I watched ravens eat the non viable eggs in an eagles nest that is in California.

Interesting. I was reading the user manual on your incubator. it indicates the eggs should be cooled off for 3 hours each day to help hatching rates. (Section 11). It's actually a setting in the machine.
