To me, this is probably the greatest intro to a movie ever made. It's entertaining but at the same time establishes pretty much all the important characters. Where other movies need to drop some massive information vomit upon you to explain certain characters, this movie does it within the span of just four minutes. Great pacing and also a smart way how they integrated the car chase across several scenes.

I love how the Jeep somehow switched from manual transmission to automatic throughout the intro.
Love the music, the acting... great opening scene.
Simply one of the best movies and intro's of all time!
I get goosebumps every time I watch this intro.
I love for that "Ah SHIT" when Chunk gets his shake all over himself around 3:33

I think Steven Spielberg put that in so that the movie would intentionally get a PG-13 rating. While he made the movie for kids to enjoy he felt that some of the darker elements of the movie weren't suitable for under 13 children.

The best part is the guys laugh 😂
Remember when films were shot on film and looked like movies?
3:27 "Oh wow a police chase!" 3:30 *cars drive away* "aww shit!"

***** It's a chocolate shake. Who the hell presses a piece of pizza up against a window? His delivery of the line "Aw, shit!" is one of the funniest parts of the movie.

The Goonies is one of my favorites films and we all know where Sean Astin and Josh Brolin are right now
I love that I'm the same age as The Goonies! (1985) :-)
They don't make fun movies like this anymore
Ya know what would be a good mashup? Goonies with Problem Child. That would kickass.

goonies is honestly better tbh it has a higher approval rating on rotten tomatoes while problem child has a solid 0%, im not even messing: www.google.com/url?q=en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_with_a_0%2525_rating_on_Rotten_Tomatoes&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwj0vIvir-eCAxVaQUEAHUvLA0cQFnoECAwQAg&usg=AOvVaw2L6TlR_Vt9_L2PSShtm14z
My favorite 80’s movies 1. The Goonies 2. Gremlins 3. The Karate Kid 4. The Great Mouse Detective Dam the list goes on. :D
" oh wow a police chase....ahhhhh SHIT " 😂😂 Chunk you legend 😊
Nothing like walking out the least secure jail and having a saltine in the middle of a high speed car chase and shootout. God I miss the 80s and movies like this.
Love watching that little jeep just fly past those little trucks.

Chunk - Soda pop! Oh boy am I thirsty! (Lifts up cover) (Slams cover) Dammit! 😅
This movie really has those typical kinda characters everyone remembers: The big, strong guy The big hearted go-getter The fat and hungry kid The Asian with all the gadgets The adorable teenage girl The kinda aggresive girl The funny, pranking bully
1:33 He bumped his nose on the window 😂😂😂
I love the Goonies so much I love adventures even with a group of kids involved ❤

lol love this film
A Simple favourite! Epic for it's time . . .
Ah product placement, its glorious! That jeep is sweet tho, I think jeeps entire angle on this was to advertise the jeeps new 4wd system with autolocking hubs and shift on the fly 4wd system, something relatively new in the mid 80's not sure if thatsc100% correct, but it pretty logical and awesome xD
The greatest intro in the movie history ever! :D
The microwave boxes were huge! Haha totally forgot how big they were.
The last great AMC, er Renault, er Jeep ever made!!! Long live the XJ.
3:45 Jeep advertisement is great
Never judge those reluctant to mail that mother's day card...
BEST MOVIE EVER! ❤❤
j'adore !!! its my favorite movie intro's
It's the music. Movies just don't have music like this anymore.
Great, now I want to watch the whole thing!!
Beautiful Astoria
The movie Mouth was watching on TV is called Some Like It Hot (1959)
i love that song.
Gotta love how casual Mama Fratelli is while being chased by the cops, eating a cracker like she's on the way to work, being chased by the cops must be a regular occurrence.
I always wondered what kinda pepsi drink chunk was drinking lol looked like a strawberry shake

@1ButtonDash Maybe it was a Pepsi but, the only reason it shook up on him was because he was moving around too fast and when you move soda around too fast, it explodes up.
Francis Fratelli looks kind of like this guy that I knew that had a HUGE crush on me (I didn't think of him that way though) and would send me very revealing selfies of himself to me and would also send love songs, hearts, and poems, yet I didn't even know the guy that well at that time No matter how many times I told him to stop, he'd do it even more so LOL
