    I’m still not sure why some people make a big deal over whether or not a phone has a glass or plastic back. I don’t know a single person that carries their phone without a case.

    Heat dissipation. Glass dissipates heat better than plastic does, which means better battery performance over long-term. A plastic back phone + case = hot phone = bad battery health.

    I never recommend buying a Pixel at launch unless they increase trade in values because Google constantly puts their phones on sale. My biggest gripe with the 8a is the price being $499. At that point, it’s not a value in my opinion. I feel like it should’ve been $399. Because then it would be $300 cheaper than the 8. However, this phone does have several upgrades that do make it worth buying. I love the aloe color, plastic matte back, flat camera bar, brighter screen, slightly improved battery and 7 years of updates. So it definitely is worth the purchase if you have a trade in and don’t pay full price for it.

    Fast charging is hard on batteries. Causes overheating and other problems. Your phone is better off in the long run with a somewhat slower charger. Wireless charging works fine in a car to keep it running for wireless Android Auto without worrying about running out of battery. Most of us 'regular' users are not going to even notice, much less miss, the extra capabilities in the Pixel 8.

  • @MarksTech

    @MarksTech

    Ай бұрын

    Quite the contrary. Fast charging, if done right, doesn’t damage batteries as you think. In fact, heat is the number 1 damage to batteries as well as how the ramp speeds are programmed. This is why even while fast charging, a phone will dramatically slow down charge after 80%. For example, the OnePlus 12 uses a dual battery design for it to charge fast. So, instead of one battery taking in a ton of wattage - it’s split up across two batteries. The type of charger you use also plays a big role. A GaN charger is *dramatically* more efficient at controlling heat than other chargers are. On the note of wireless charging in your car - I do NOT recommend that. 1) car wireless chargers are incredibly slow and not efficient, which means more heat. 2) The back design of the Pixel 8a is plastic, which isn’t a great conductor of heat like glass is. Which is why the Pixel 8a gets hot while charging. In fact, the Pixel 8a charging at 18w gets hotter than my OnePlus 12 which charges at 80w. Putting a case on the phone only amplifies the problem. Charging a phone, with a case, using a wireless charger in your car is bad news. I’ve tested over 50 phones during my KZread career (many of which were long-term reviews) and I know what ruins batteries the most. There was even a Poll done by a large KZreadr. The poll asked iPhone users that charge using the 5w brick compared to the 20w brick what their battery health was at, and since the 5w brick isn’t as efficient as the 20w brick, those that charged at 5w saw more battery degradation. Batteries, and charging techniques have greatly improved over the years. Don’t be afraid of fast charging :)

If you notice that your device gets hot when you charge it, take it out of its case first"

Vraiment Bye bye Google
