I agree, but I don't think Eli Wallach received the Oscar because it was an Italian movie made in 1966 but not released in the United States until 1969, meaning he would have had to have been nominated for the 1970 awards, four years after the movie was made. A Fistful of Dollars (1964) and For A Few Dollars More (1965) were not released in the United States until 1967.

The most wonderfully weird, yet compelling relationship. One moment they get along like a house on fire, the next they stab each other in the back. Brilliant chemistry on display between Eastwood and Wallach, they're a delight to watch.

i've seen it many times and when it came out in 1968, it's grown into one of the best movies of all time. it just took people awhile to realize how good it is on many levels, plot, character development, music and entertainment value. the movie lived up to it's name.

It's a pity that acting today isn't such a hit. Real acting and performance with this golden era. No special effects, just plain old fashioned and wonderful acting. Pity, today's film industry cannot adopt such a wonderful copy of this. This is true acting and a fantastic Western. Entertainment at its best!
