I always enjoy your sermons, I don't understand when I see videos about what you've supposedly done and what not. Especially when the channel is about christianity and the love of God. Judging you on what you've done makes no sense, whether you've sinned or not, you deliver beautiful messages. God is full of grace and forgiveness and us, as his children, hearing his word we know that we should be treating each other the way he would treat us. I love you brother and I thank you for bringing me closer to the lord with your beautiful words.

Not everybody was born into a normal, loving and supportive environment. Great sermon from Joel that addresses those raised in a dysfunctional setting by no fault of their own. I was raised by a WWII Prisoner of War father with undiagnosed PTSD, reason I can relate to this.

I have a very very intact relationship with my earthly father. God has been absolutely merciful to me and because of this I'd say I am an emotionally healthy and grown woman: I've known God for quite a time now, 12 years. I have an almost perfect surrounding that keeps me thriving and I love it. Still, there are days like these, when something small happens that makes me just long for a time, when I was eight and just could climb on the lap of my father, just hug him, listen to his kindness and feel secure. Life get's tough sometimes and my earthly father isn't around all the time for me to run to him for comfort... Well, even the healthiest people need a heavenly father. I searched for this specific topic and hoped I would actually find something from Joel Osteen because I knew, he would preach that encouraging. Thank you. It reminded me of God's very nature - once again. I know, all is going to be okay. God bless you.

I agree. Joel is a faithful servant.

I really needed to hear this. I was brought up in a dysfunctional and poverty stricken home. I never understood why my family was broken and everyone else seemed to be getting along great.

This goes along with Joel's Daily Devotional for 7/390, where Joel brings up 1 John 1:9, where the Apostle John uses the word "we" to include himself, a Christian, as needing to confess sin when it is committed to continue to walk blameless before God --- as 1 John 1:10 says that if we refuse to admit we have sinned when we have we run afoul of verse 9, and we will ultimately be deceived and the truth will come out: "the truth is not in us." (1 John 1:10). We will either backslide or will be shown as never having been saved in the first place. Joel Osteen's 7/30 devotional says we need to confess our sin per 1 John 1:9, but verse 10 says "If we say that we have not sinned, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us." This is for Christians, as John uses "we" and "us" to include himself, a Christian. There are those that don't have the truth in them in all churches, and they are either backslid because they refused to repent per 1 John 1:8,10, or they showed that through their refusal to repent per 1 John 1:8,10 that they were never saved to begin with...

In conclusion: Forgiveness of sins for Christians is ongoing and conditional: In 1 John 1:9 John starts the verse off with "If". If you do part a (confess your sins) then God will do part b(forgive your sins. This verse is for Christians as John said "If we confess.. " John using the word "we" means he included himself, a Christian. So this verse, along with 1 John 1:8,10 are for Christians as John used "we" in each verse. No confession of sin after salvation means no forgiveness.
