I went from the bottom of Yosemite Valley to the top of Half Dome and back to our car in just over 6 hours. I was following a guy who was like 60 or so at the time...he drug me up that mountain. My pride would not let me show him any weakness but he kicked my ass that day. The best hike of my life I’d have to say.

I did the JMT nobo in 2013. Every other month or so someone raises the bar on JMT videos. The bar is yours now, and I suspect it will be for awhile. Wow. Just wow. And Lauren is one tough lady. I found myself praying for her relief from those blisters by the time you got to Marie Lake. She's amazing. Take good care of her!

I used to have blister issues when I wore wool and hiking boots. Laurens pretty tough from what Ive seen here. She should try running socks and approach sneakers instead and see if that works. Ive been racking up miles with this light weight quick dry combo with very good results. Great video!!

She sure was frustrated with her feet. That same sock and low top hiking shoe combination that pulverized her feet on the JMT has been problem free for hundreds of miles before...just not this time. Everybody is such an experiment of one when it comes to feet. Me, I can wear almost anything, but I prefer heavy old school leathers with two pairs of socks; one thin polypro under a medium merino wool mix. I can haul 80 lbs problem free indefinitely, or do 25 mile days with 40 lbs in total comfort with that combo. Good thing she's a bad-ass :)

@@FreedivejeepHD You gotta test the specific shoes - not relying blindly on 'type' of shoe. And the test should be at least 4 hours ime ... that is when you begin to actually feel the long wear issues. Gotta try it in different sock combinations too .. usually people hiking through will bring different shoes instead of using the same shoes with different sock combinations. Using different sock combinations in the same shoe is how you run into injuries because the fit is only good with so much margin.

It felt like I can do the hike too, but my arthritis does not let me enjoy long distance hikes. Hopefully one day I can do it. Hi Celina! Thank you so much for watching, I'm delighted to hear how much you enjoyed the video :) I thought about making a video about gear and planning, but our needs were so different than most people's, since I had so much weight between camera equipment, an extra warm tent and miscellaneous other things to keep Lauren warm. She gets REALLY cold, really easily. I hope you get to take a crack at the JMT; it is a fantasy world to a hiker!

I watched almost all the JMT videos on KZread in preparation for my 2017 NOBO and this one takes the prize! I just came across it as I am preparing to do a repeat in 2018 - Crescent Meadow to Whitney and then NOBO to HI. Thanks for making this "movie". It must have been time-consuming to start and stop and double back etc. to get all those shots/scenes in - especially when you're trying to "get those miles in". Awesome quality; great narrative and music; and especially loved how you seemed to just be having fun!!! Too often we focus on the destination and forget about the journey. Thanks for reminding us that it's about the journey. Cheers and happy trails :)

It could not of been easy to make such an enjoyable and informative video. Watching this on the monitor's full screen ( 21 inches ) is something to see. I really enjoy it because it's the closest ( medical reasons ) I will get to hiking in areas like that. Then those packs , they made my back hurt and all I was doing was watching the video. This East coast flat lander ( Florida Trail section hiker ) is use to a 7 ,1/2 base weigh pack. Your camera equipment ( 25 pounds ) was three times the weight of my pack. Different location's , different needs or requirements and a world of difference in the scenery and temperatures.
