I went from the bottom of Yosemite Valley to the top of Half Dome and back to our car in just over 6 hours. I was following a guy who was like 60 or so at the time...he drug me up that mountain. My pride would not let me show him any weakness but he kicked my ass that day. The best hike of my life I’d have to say.
What a great video! Many thanks. Your wife is a legend.
Thank you for putting in the time and effort to make this! You did an excellent job! It's inspiring and helpful to see the JMT at this level of detail. Looking forward to your next project.
I did the JMT nobo in 2013. Every other month or so someone raises the bar on JMT videos. The bar is yours now, and I suspect it will be for awhile. Wow. Just wow. And Lauren is one tough lady. I found myself praying for her relief from those blisters by the time you got to Marie Lake. She's amazing. Take good care of her!
Tremendously enjoyed every minute of your video and your adventure .... I plan on watching this over and over again thanks for taking the time and the energy to film this.

I used to have blister issues when I wore wool and hiking boots. Laurens pretty tough from what Ive seen here. She should try running socks and approach sneakers instead and see if that works. Ive been racking up miles with this light weight quick dry combo with very good results. Great video!!

She sure was frustrated with her feet. That same sock and low top hiking shoe combination that pulverized her feet on the JMT has been problem free for hundreds of miles before...just not this time. Everybody is such an experiment of one when it comes to feet. Me, I can wear almost anything, but I prefer heavy old school leathers with two pairs of socks; one thin polypro under a medium merino wool mix. I can haul 80 lbs problem free indefinitely, or do 25 mile days with 40 lbs in total comfort with that combo. Good thing she's a bad-ass :)

@@FreedivejeepHD You gotta test the specific shoes - not relying blindly on 'type' of shoe. And the test should be at least 4 hours ime ... that is when you begin to actually feel the long wear issues. Gotta try it in different sock combinations too .. usually people hiking through will bring different shoes instead of using the same shoes with different sock combinations. Using different sock combinations in the same shoe is how you run into injuries because the fit is only good with so much margin.
What a great adventure, thanks for bringing us along.
Great video! Enjoyed every minute! Lauren is one tough cookie!

Your wife is a real trooper, one can tell she is in a lot of pain and tired but she keeps going. She gets an A++ for this trip.
That was awesome. Thanks for sharing that trail is on my bucket list for sure. Great camera work.
Wow! Look at those pack sizes, I'm surprised no one got hurt worse.
Best JMT video out there! Lauren, you rock! Can't believe you walked 220 (or more) miles with blisters. Can't believe you both carried so much weight. Well done! Great photography. Loved it!
Beautiful! The Mt Whitney part esp spectacular. (I’m doing the whole trail this summer- very excited!)
About 17 minutes in. This excellent (thus far) video confirms my wish to hike the JMT-with-a-side-of-Half-Dome. Thank you for sharing this video with all of us, and for putting forth the incredible effort to document your journey at such a high level of quality.

Really, really enjoyed your video. The most beautiful scenery! What an adventure! Excellent videography and editing, too!
An amazing video, I enjoyed every second of it.
Awesome adventure! Congrats to both of you!
Awesome video..thanks ya’ all.
One of the best hiking videos I've seen. Thank you both for bringing this amazing adventure home for us all to enjoy. I plan on doing this trail one day and you both have been such an inspiration. Many blessing to Tripod and Tenderfoot!
Amazing work. Living my bucket list thru you until I can do it myself!
your choice of music is absolutely perfect , it respects the spirit of the jmt
Excellent video, thoroughly enjoyed. Felt like I was going along.
nice camera work, great editing. I've hiked the JMT four times (both NOBO and SOBO) with no more than a 36lb pack, you sir have earned a lifetime of atomic fireballs with that pack. Also, your girl is RAD. what a trooper she is. congrats you two. see you on the trails.
Hats off to Lauren. Way to hang in there!! One tough hombre.
Great vídeo, sorry about the blisters, but they’re part of the adventures. Love all the beautiful scenery, would love to make it there one day. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Karen. I hope you get your chance to experience the JMT as well! I'll be hiking the Colorado Trail with some better film and sound gear starting next month. Stay tuned! Ryan.
This has been the best video ever for JMT. I felt bad for your wife, all those blisters OMG but she made it! It felt like I can do the hike too, but my arthritis does not let me enjoy long distance hikes. Hopefully one day I can do it. You should make another one explaining how you did your resupply and what food you usually carry, the water filter and the brands you use for your equipment. Thanks for the amazing video!

Hi Celina! Thank you so much for watching, I'm delighted to hear how much you enjoyed the video :) I thought about making a video about gear and planning, but our needs were so different than most people's, since I had so much weight between camera equipment, an extra warm tent and miscellaneous other things to keep Lauren warm. She gets REALLY cold, really easily. I hope you get to take a crack at the JMT; it is a fantasy world to a hiker!
This was way far the best video I’ve seen! Felt like you both became very good friends of mine! Love your patient wife and your love of nature, after my own heart! Thank you Tri-pod
SO awesome to see a shot of going up the cables! Its actually frightening and glad you gave it that perspective. I did it at midnite under a full moon and totally recommend it. You have to leave upper Yosemite at 9pm but totally worth it.
High quality, entertaining video!
My husband and I loved your video!!!!! Great job!

This is an AWESOME documentary. Thank you for sharing. I am from the Pacific Northwest and when we were kids we used to hike and camp every summer (Good times). It seemed like your wife really didn't want to be there but she stuck in there. It also reminded me of the cold weather training we had to do in the army in the rocky mountains when I was stationed in Colorado. Anyway, thank you very much
You have one of the best videos of JMT. The best wild life captured. Thank u.

Great video - You did an outstanding job capturing the beauty of the landscape! I know the tremendous effort in videoing in the manner in which you did...Not to mention that pack weight (I cringe when I tip 25#)!
Great video. Thanks for the effort.
Wonderful!! You two are freaking warriors!! Enjoyed this very much! Can't wait for my turn next month (July 2018).

Id like to give a shout out to your wife for handling that trip like a boss. she sure has a lot of grit. good job you two!
very cool brother I loved watching youre vid thanks for sharing be safe and hike on always cheers
I watched almost all the JMT videos on KZread in preparation for my 2017 NOBO and this one takes the prize! I just came across it as I am preparing to do a repeat in 2018 - Crescent Meadow to Whitney and then NOBO to HI. Thanks for making this "movie". It must have been time-consuming to start and stop and double back etc. to get all those shots/scenes in - especially when you're trying to "get those miles in". Awesome quality; great narrative and music; and especially loved how you seemed to just be having fun!!! Too often we focus on the destination and forget about the journey. Thanks for reminding us that it's about the journey. Cheers and happy trails :)

Beautiful Scenery. Thank you for sharing. You sounded a very happy guy and your wife is Beautiful.
This is amazing.
love watching your omni magnificent hike
Your one cool couple, fairplay to you for carrying that pack too, I recently done 70 mile through hike with 50 and that was enough weight, cool video ;))
It could not of been easy to make such an enjoyable and informative video. Watching this on the monitor's full screen ( 21 inches ) is something to see. I really enjoy it because it's the closest ( medical reasons ) I will get to hiking in areas like that. Then those packs , they made my back hurt and all I was doing was watching the video. This East coast flat lander ( Florida Trail section hiker ) is use to a 7 ,1/2 base weigh pack. Your camera equipment ( 25 pounds ) was three times the weight of my pack. Different location's , different needs or requirements and a world of difference in the scenery and temperatures.
stumbled across this looking at wild camping vids .. loved the filming ... and impressed with the girls doing the cables ...nice one
Thanks for posting, I'd love to hike this trail but even in 'normal' times it would take some sorting out, being in the UK. Perhaps one day. Lauren , you were amazing, carrying on when obviously in pain🙌
Cool video love it
I'm proud of you both.
Good video, brutal to watch. The weight of your packs, and your poor wife. She looks miserable throughout most of the video, you could feel it. We felt so sorry for her.
