Ilban definitely doesn't need a nerf. Very very recently people were saying he was a C tier mediocrity. The leader isn't inherently problematic, just matches up well with immortality. Tessia is a different story.

I was about to say the same thing! I think Illban is not OP but meshes well with immo’s goals. Meanwhile immo has made faction leaders worse so the fact that Tessia is still that good speaks to how strong she is

I'm a bit surprised to hear Hundro is popular in 2nd. I've been rolled into a lot of 1st position games lately and Hundro almost always makes his way around. Which I don't complain about, Hundro is imo the strongest 1st position leader, disregarding starting setup. Regarding Tessia, I think she has gotten better. In Ix you'd do well with Tessia if you managed to pick up relevant cards. Sometimes you didn't and she would only be average. Picking up relevant cards is easier in Immortality Ilban: I believe 2nd position is best. Getting to r2 swordmaster or interstellar is very good, and you have a good set of backup plays to make if the draws don't pan out. I think he's a popular 4th position choice because he is such a good leader overall, and 4th place gets first pick.

I don't really have it for this seasons data. But it was a bit of an extrapolation based on what I looked at in s2. Regarding hundro pick rate.

Ilban is best in 2nd or 3rd position. Being able to double smuggle + ring for 8 solari swordmaster is really good or you can also take shipping. A backup wealth is nice in 3rd if smuggling and foldspace are occupied, as you can go mentat and react in combat while also being able to chain your actions in round 2 and 3 (for either shipping access or smuggling for swordmaster).

Agree, in my stats Ilban wins 46% in 3rd, 41% in 2nd, 24% in 1st and only 16% in 4th. I was surprised by how low his win rate is in 4th, at least in my sample (250 games or so)

Onething that feels awkward about early swordmaster ilban. Is that you don't have Solari for mentat. It feels so strange

I think Tessia got better because of the atomics enabling you to get powerful faction access cards early. You being able to see 5 new cards and others also refreshing the row gives you a much higher chance to get shifting/in the shadows/web of power/firm grip. Also shipping is not that high priority as it was in ix, so it's more likely that a 1st position tessia gets shipping for multiple consecutive rounds.

That's true. There are alot of low cost Cards that work well for tessia that enable her engine to go. Didn't think about that

I actually think that Tessia is one of the leaders who benefit from atomics the least. I find her to be one of the only leaders that can be completely fine with only having average cards.

@@ahmicmatija Snooper tokens give a flat reward and each can only be triggered once -> the sooner you get them, the more impact they have -> getting faction bump cards earlier is better for Tessia. If you don't have tempo faction bumps, you'll struggle to get your last one or make any use of that extra bump it gives.

@@felkdav I'm actually not the biggest fan of just rushing snoopers strategy with Tessia. Getting snoopers is good, but I feel like rewards are best when there is a purpose for them (like getting 2 troops when conflict is bad or heavily contested); with losing snooper tokens you also lose ability to transform bumps from one faction to another which takes away flexibility and is a quite common way of Tessia players bumps getting wasted.

I'm not saying atomics isn't very useful for Tessia, but I do think that leaders that don't have such strong abilities and need good cards to match her need it even more.

I'll be curious if you can combine these winrates with the positional data to spit out an even more precise "power level". You hinted at Hundro having a high 2nd position play rate which is probably skewing his win rate.

@Captain Reason ELO is not an abbreviation at all, it's the name of the guy who invented the system, Arpad Elo.
