One of the greatest films of all time. Just saw a great interview with Robert Evans. It's amazing to see what transpired to get this masterpiece made. Fortunately for the world, everything fell into place the right way.
The Offer was awesome and I love how they went the Saving Mr. Banks route and made the fictional story of Godfather merge with the real life story. Probably 40% of the Offer is exaggerated but it was still awesome.
The making of the Godfather is just as amazing as the movie itself. It is astounding that it got made at all.

They were in talks about making The Godfather book into a movie even before it became a best seller - very interesting. This is the first time I have heard of this.

Fwiw, Oct '23, "The Offer" is now available on different platforms at reasonable prices... and it's freaking great even if you've never seen "The Godfather".
I love the series on Paramount plus the offer
The Offer was very enjoyable and informative for Godfather fans. Miles Teller was so good as Al Ruddy 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Al Martino was the only sub-par actor in the entire film. Extraordinary film in every way. Beautiful hearing two of the principals - legends, both - telling how a potboiler was turned into great art.
Thank you for uploading this video! When was it recorded, do you know? Also, FYI the movie was released in 1972 and the 45th Annual Academy Awards, where Eastwood presented the Best Film Award to Ruddy, was the next year in March 1973. !!
It’s hard to add any more superlatives to the film that is the masterpiece called the Godfather but one thing that doesn’t get enough praise is the wonderful city of New York which is the backdrop drop for the movie. Having visited NYC only recently and seen the movie umpteen times it adds even more enjoyment to watching the film once again.
What amuses me is how their versions of some of the book room politics differs from that of others
Crazy how Al Pacino was viewed back than now he's like a golden icon himself 😅
I’m glad they gave Peter Bart a shout out at the end of the offer by Bob Evans
Santini, Don corleone, mickel et Fredo..... inoubliable

Why does Al Ruddy sound like Joe Columbo in the offer
They say the northman was kinda rough Great movie
2 weeks in to principal photography Ruddy was almost fired by Bob Evans for trying to sabotage Francis Ford Coppola.... according to Evans.
who’s the interviewer?
The Godfather is The Beatles of movies end of story , and The Offer , OMG totally amazing and Giovanni Ribisi was c crazy insane great and lets face it Al Ruddy has one huge set of cast iron balls to go toe to toe with the mob
It’s saddening the fact the only one who’s still alive in the thumbnail is Al Pacino.
Al Ruddy " I want to thank you Peter for introducing me to The Godfather or I would never have produced it". Peter Bart " Well, if you can recall Al back those 50 odd years I made you an offer you couldn't refuse ha ha"
And then there was one. The Godfather the younger outlived the family men.
The movie was so much better than the book. Sorry, Mario. And, The Offer made the movie so much greater.
@Thespeedrap
4 ай бұрын
But Mario should be credited by writing the book to begin with.
Al Ruddy reminds me a lot of the comedian Joe Diaz, or should I say Joey Diaz sounds like Al Ruddy rather
There is so much mythology about this movie. I heard the reason they didn't pursue Olivier longer is because he was sick. Also I saw an interview with Coppola where he says tne day he received the script he had reached out to Brando to star in The Conversation and Brando turned him down and lo and behold the very same day Rudy and Bart show up with the script for The Godfather. It's like the universe wanted this movie to be made with these characters. Coppola was broke his studio was going under Puzo owed loan sharks Rudy was a novice. At the end of when all the puzzle pieces come together it seems to be Evans was the driving force for what turned up on screen. He seemed to know greatness when he saw it and knew when to step in and off. Indeed The Godfather is at its heart a story about family. All great stores ultimately are a story about family. A natural family, a crime family, a family of men in conflict on some battlefield, a family of women dealing with interpersonal issues , or a group of strangers who come together as family. Even a dysfunctional family. The operatve word is still family. It is perhaps the one universal bond that all human beings relate to. We either have a good one or long for one. There is no third option.

Its always interesting humanizing powerful bad people. Family wise just like us. Like tony soprano could have you killed but his wife and daughter break his balls and he s powerless
I have been on countless tortuous arduous films in which the pain suffered produced anything but great film...in fact often its tortuous because you know you are making a crap film with a bad script, bad casting decisions, undisciplined and unprepared directors, incompetent producers. Crews know within days what they are in for. Crew are almost always the most competent people on a film, working for the least competent.
