The Godfather of Team India Ball Hockey: Street Legends
Спорт
Street Legends is a three-part series that looks at athletes who dominate their niche sport while giving us a look at the duality of their lives. While they are hyped in the streets as "legends," they still go through the mundane tasks of everyday life. We see the trials and tribulations of our athletes as they try to take their careers to the next level, push their niche stardom as far as possible or just use their sport as an escape from the ordinary nature of day-to-day living.
In this episode, we meet Smiter Kaila, the godfather of Team India Ball Hockey as the team of underdogs preps for the 2017 World Championships.

THAT LEGEND
I've played against him and let me say its way too hard to get the ball from him, i look up to Smitter!
Great video! Smiter's the legend! =) Smiter is one of the best ball hockey players I've ever seen and he is master in the art of stickhandling! He has soft hands and can stickhandle without looking at the ball! He's definitely the Godfather of Team India Ball Hockey. In my humble opinion, he's also the Godfather of Ball Hockey in BC. I have been recording many ball hockey games in the Greater Vancouver area and he's the inspiration to so many ball hockey players. Smiter is one of the top snipers and he's a very smart player with tremendous vision! He is the Captain of Vancouver Falcons and he's also the Captain of Vancouver Ball Hoggz that has won the Play On! Street Hockey National Championships 3 times. Vancouver Ball Hoggz players're recognized as "Canada's Greatest Street Hockey Players" during Hockey Night in Canada! =)
Dope documentary! thanks.

Right on man. you guys make me want to get back into the sport. the ice hockey vs running sports really doesn't get talked about enough. I grew up playing box lacrosse. it was awesome to me because ice hockey was my off season. 30 second hockey shift truly had nothing compared to a 60-90 second shift in lacrosse running up and down the rink. good luck gents, i'm cheering for you. ps. dudes got a killer beard.
This is so weird to see how popular ball hockey is for them. Coming from a Canadian kid who played ball hockey for fun and was on the ice a lot.

Yes im Czech, playing hockeyball about 10years and ive to say hocekyball is very popular in Czechia,Slovakia and Switzerland. This was champisoonship in Pilsen and it was amazing for all hockeyball fans that there were so many fans, but it was championship. Average attendance on highest hockeyball league is about 100-200fans, and best players are working as normal people. So its amazaing when they are playing for 9000fans.

It is interesting because in the UK ball hockey like this is not really a sport at all. Field hockey, which uses a ball but is played outside on a field and is quite difference from ice hockey, is the main form followed by Ice Hockey.

Played a ridiculous amount of ball hockey in the off season in FL. It's expensive to play ice hockey year round in FL, so me and a couple other kids would ball out. I even had bauer street goslie gear....played for hours.
This is really cool. I am a Canadian, as these guys are. It is heartwarming to see other cultures adopting and loving and growing Canadian culture. Great job guys and best of luck.
Great to see everyone new and recent to Canada loving and enjoying hockey.

AWESOME STORY!
When I was a kid we played every day. I drove a beater station wagon and we kept everything in the back. After school we played every day and in the winter the ponds froze over so we took to the ice. I’d give just about anything to go back to that time again.
this video is so awesome!
When they were playing that clap bom from the blue line game the tendy made a beauty snag

I played ice and roller hockey. I was never good at either even after years of playing. Regardless, this seems as fun as both and woulda love to have played it.
I grew up playing Hockey, Ice, Street, Roller, if it has Hockey in front of it I played it. I love the game. Keep it going boys great video.

awesome bring home the ship smiter!
Inspirational.
I had the pleasure of being a referee in a number of tournaments that Smiter took part in. Beyond the fact that he was usually the best player on the rink he was also one of the most respectful and classy players I've ever encountered.
Love our based Indian hockey players!
I've played ice and ball hockey, they both have their ups and downs but they are quite different in terms of play style. Ice hockey is way more fast paced and in my honest opinion, alot more difficult than ball hockey. Not saying that ball hockey isn't hard, it's just not as strenuous and doesn't have alot of the really crippling big hits that are in ice hockey simply due to speed on the ice. Easily the hardest thing in ball hockey is getting used to running, and dekes in the neutral zone (my personal Achilles heel). Passing in ball hockey is superb and easy to go tape-to-tape. If you say Ice hockey is easier because you're skating and not running, that's a clear-as-day example that you've never played a tough game of ice hockey. Just my two cents on the matter. Play whatever the fuck makes you happy and don't listen to dumbasses on the Internet :)
@skaldlouiscyphre2453
Жыл бұрын
They're both hard as hell, but I feel like with skating you get tiny breaks compared to running. Ball hockey whoops your ass in terms of cardio, even if the hits aren't as hard. The ball has a lot less energy too, so you can be braver about blocking it.
Those India jerseys look sick.
Do these guys practice in NewEngland because they all had some sort of Boston sports team logo on their clothes or hats.
