The Girl From Ipanema

Музыка

Our debut album!!: itunes.apple.com/us/album/jos...
Also known as Garota de Ipanema. Josh Turner and Larkin Dodgen attempt the Tom Jobim classic that made Bossa Nova popular and launched Astrud Gilberto's singing career. Forgive my Portuguese. Guitar is a Gitane D-500; mics are a pair of Audio Technica AT2050's, camera is a Kodak Playsport. Thanks to Carson McKee (channel: drakeelliot) for helping with the recording. Please feel free to leave thoughts and suggestions!

Can't help but agree... Idk about you, but most of Brazilian music sounds so very empty when played in one instrument only. It doesn't matter how much you try, be it bossa, sertanejo or whatever.

I've heard it too much where the player doesn't embrace the bossa nova nearly enough (if you can call it that anymore with it not being new anymore) I love it when someone plays it with all of the "finger and thumb percussion" so to speak, it adds so little to someone who isn't looking for it but for that reason it adds 10 times more for someone who is, very well done.

Wow. Just wow. I didn't think you would even attempt the original Portuguese lyrics, but according to the folks in the comments who speak Portuguese, you nailed it. I wouldn't have the guts or the linguistic skills to even try. Your English version was lovely too. Well done!

Wow, this is a very difficult song to sing, watch others try to cover it and it is rarely done this nice. Larkin has such an incredible voice, I'm sure will get better as time goes on. Josh, what a talent, has an incredible sense of rhythm and presence, talent way beyond his years. He must practice couple of hours a day, more than most people realise. Can't wait to hear from these two. Can't think of a cover I like better than this.

Tall and tan and young and lovely The girl, from ipanema goes walking, and When she passes, each one she passes goes Ah When she moves it’s like a samba that swings so cool and sway so gently that When she passes, each one, she passes goes ah a Oh, but he watches so sadly How can he tell her he loves her Yes, he would give his heart gladly But each day when she walks to the sea She looks straight ahead not at him Tall and tan and young and lovely The girl, from ipanema goes walking and When she passes, he smiles, but she doesn’t see
