In today's episode of Skul the Hero Slayer, I'll be utilizing the Stone Monkey skull with a rare strategy for me: Strike 4! Monkey is a skull that often gets a bad rap, but I am a firm believer that Monkey is actually pretty damn good, and it's all thanks to his powerful swap. Monkey functions by being able to summon clones of himself, normally done by most people by using his down+attack to summon them. This is fine and all, but the far easier and more consistent option for Monkey clones is by swapping, which always summons clones for you. Also, his swap is a big AoE attack that hits decent hard as well. Not to mention Heaven Earth Slam, one of the stronger moves in the entire game Monkey gets access to. Then there's Strike, which is a wildly inconsistent inscription when fully invested in. Strike 2 is a simple and easy thing to invest in, since a lot of decent items have Strike as an inscription, but Strike 4 requires you to juggle so many different stats, mainly damage% and crit%. This means you have less item slots for simply scaling your damage%, and means even if you get Strike 4 on your inscriptions your damage output is probably going to be worse than it would be had you just gone flat damage%. This means you have to get lucky with your items having dense damage scaling, which thankfully we did! Joined by Hunter, can this duo of underestimated skulls show that they've also got the power? Day 15 of asking haxa to use deicide I don't know if you've done this minmax but in act 1 shops if you reroll till a gacha box or one of the inscription boxes you can get a duplicate from the dark quartz pedestal item Also I think the actual worst item in the game is the health screening machine because it's for some reason status strike swap item which doesn't work well on basically any run other than double alch or modded in quindent of sadism

I forgot about Health Screening Machine lmao. Yeah that one is the worst item, I should say it's the worst legendary item.

Monkey skull would definitely exist without Dragonball. Like goku, stone monkey is based on Son Wukong from Chinese mythology.

I'm aware, but it wouldn't exist in quite the same way. Also, the enemy we all call Frieza sometimes makes a power level reference when you encounter it as Monkey, so the devs clearly had Goku in mind when they made it. Also, it's the best I could do to tribute someone influential who had a profound impact on a medium I enjoy, so I just wanted to do what I could.

Honestly i wish stone monkey's down attack did damage with the dash. Didn't have to be a lot just, something
build would have been x20 times stronger and you would've annihilated the 3 final bosses if you went 4 courage instead of 4 duel

Was there a point in the run where I made the decision to choose a Duel item over a Courage item? I can't remember if I did that or not, either way I think it's splitting hairs at that point but you're not wrong. I just thought a Duel and Strike focused run was cool, but Duel is better for mixed damage runs than it is for monotype runs.
Are you sure mainting distance with hunter wouldnt be more beneficial? Considering you get crit rate and damage, as well as a good chunk of concentration speed i think its well worth
