The Gift of Guilt - Instrumental Guitar Cover and Tabs - Gojira

Музыка

Guitar cover with tabs of The Gift of Guilt by Gojira, from their album L'enfant Sauvage.
Tuning - Drop C - CGCFAD
Redo of my previous cover as it's been on my list for a long time!
The tapping section is fairly straight forward, just keep an eye out for the slide 13-15 -12.
To get the funky noises in the verses and bridges do a pinch harmonic on the 3rd fret and bend it up 2 tones, play another pinch harmonic while the string is still bent, then release, and finally hit the open string with a palm mute. Quick example at 5:50
Theres's several time throughout the song where it will flip between triplets and 16th notes so keep an eye out for them too!
Comments and questions below as always!
Outro track
Self - Shadow Mantra
Gear - Dean Cadillac Select with Old Bones Modern pickups, UA-25EX interface, Logic X, The String Source Emerald Strings, JBL305 monitors.
Plugins used
TSE 808, Le456 amp sim. BIAS and NC 8505 for the bass. Stock logic eq, delay, reverb and compressors, Waves SSL E-channel, JST side widener, Softube saturation knob.
Audio and video are recorded separately. I feel it makes a better video at the end 🤘

Thanks for the cover and tabs of one of my favorite Gojira songs Steve! Honestly I've learned how to play a lot of Gojira songs through your videos, your tabs are very helpful :) I've always wondered how to do the weird pinch harmonic thing in the verses, always thought it was changing the positions of my pick for different pitches of the harmonic (kinda like the main riff from Magma), but it's actually just pinch while bending up, and then another pinch while bending down. Didn't realise it was that simple! I also like how you did a quick demonstration of this at the end, so I really appreciate it! Also, I didn't even know that there was a tap slide at 3:39, as well as different variations of the main riff. Good job on capturing all the little details that I never would have realized was there until you tabbed them out in this video! So thanks again Steve!

I have a few paid for plugins - SSL channel strip, JST side widener, but mostly free one. I have a video up from a few years ago about free metal tones and I'm still mostly using the same signal chains.

Thanks for the tab man It's been 2 years since I start learning Guitar, I start with learning black sabbath song and some others band, last year I try other tuning, Drop D and Drop C, blasting SOAD song and Lamb of God, but I find that LoG is quite difficult to learn as a beginner, so I stick with SoaD and then Gojira come to my life and gaining more techniques because of their song, God Damn I want to thank God for this, also I thank to you for all the tabs you've made It's still quite hard to learn Gojira stuff even after a years learning it, but I managed to play some of their song now such as A sight to behold, art of dying, flying whale, lizard skin and etc I'll learn this song along with world to come Once again thanks mate

I tend to find a tab on ultimate guitar as a base then check through it, comparing it to live videos. Also I will load the file in Logic Pro and use eq/panning to try isolate things that I'm unsure on. Sometimes I have to take my best guess as there's no live videos.
