@@openminds8765 Great idea!!! They have cartoons and crossword. The kindness pages. C for catharsis. I think some people would read the kindness page and think that's all they have to do to be kind though? Catharsis is the opposite of Dynamism. The kindness page would have to be dynamic in some way. Like sponsored with free ad space for local businesses. Or the kindness page reports are done by kids doing internships for college. Communications majors....
The bus driver one was my favorite!! What a gem of a human..
Kindness so rare these days it becomes something special.....
I was adopted 58 years ago. When my mother passed away I found the receipt for my adoption. Less than $400, yet mom and dad had to pay it in three payments. What a blessing this Gracie’s adoption story is to others as they pay it forward
This morning, the 1st Day of 2023, my husband and I were blessed and shocked by a stranger's Act of Kindness. My husband has lost his vision and has had several surgeries (4 hospitals in the last 8mos). Going out is a treat and challenge. He is in a wheelchair, and I have a hip-to-toe leg brace. Doors are the worst, I've become more used to folks watching my struggle, or he remains in the car. TODAY, 2 young guys came to open both doors to enter the restaurant, which was amazing. We were seated, placed our order and enjoyed our breakfast, waiting to receive our ticket, our waitress informed us that our ticket had been paid, I was shocked. What a blessing surprise, and as we left, a young man entering the restaurant helped us leave. I WILL PAY IT ONWARD

Hopefully you didn’t have that leg brace on for long and that you were able to pay it forward. I hope 2024 started off better than ‘23 did. Unfortunately with the infestation of social media people are more interested in getting a great shot of someone or something that they can put on their SM page. It’s a sad state when people are so wrapped up in their social media status that they can’t see the struggles of their fellow human beings!
Steve Hartman is what goodness and wholesomeness are all about. Thank you for this. Best wishes to everyone in 2023; let's make it a kind one.

Then I went down stairs and met a friendly dog......He wanted to smell what my husband had in his hand. It was a chip of granite and he would have been happy to take it but his owner pulled him away. I have been watching you for years, and you always seem to amaze. I really would like for you to do one of my favorite sets again, when you used to throw a dart at the map. Where ever the dart landed you would visit the town and open the phonebook, and where your finger landed you’d go interview that person. The vet one was my favorite, because the second time you met his neighbor.

I have watched him as a reporter for a long time ,and his stories have inspired me to live a life inspired by kindness .. “give and it shall be given unto you , pressed down , shaken together and running over” it’s in the book .. and it really works . If everyone was kind every day at least once .. it would change the world 💜
Thank you, I needed this video today. I am sure that no one from CBS News will see this comment but please know you gave me hope today. My husband and I are taking on the task of pretty much raising our 3 year old Granddaughter and at our age it is exhausting and stressful. When we found out over 3 years ago we were going to be Grandparents we were beyond excited to be able to have this little person who we could spoil and love on and when we got tired say “ok here ya go Mom and Dad you can have the little one back!” But it hasn’t gone quite like that. So anyway I just needed a good happy story to give me some hope in this crazy world and a smile on my face so again, thank you ☺️ ❤

Being kind to each other is such a gift! The person receiving this gift of kindness from someone is a reminder of how valued they are. Curtis, it warmed my heart when that precious boy said you were the Father he always wanted. God put you where He knew you would make such a difference in the life of a child. (children) I once read, "Every child you encounter is a divine appointment. God Bless you Curtis. You were handpicked by God!

So lovely. People may not remember what you do, but they will remember how you make them feel.
Doing Random Acts of Kindness gives more to the person giving than the person receiving. I know this!
Love these good folks.
Steve, the crew that both made this possible, the people that inspired this and all of Steve's journeys and stories, you all are my heroes. May this world slowly begin to recognize that in order to make love go viral, we first have to believe it can and then make it happen. No one should shoulder that alone. It takes every single one of us.

Well I'm crying cause I needed this after over a month of bad news. There is a special place in heaven for Steve Hartman. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I started watching OTRWSH regularly in August, 2018. I had decided I just couldn't handle watching videos and reading articles about a certain "politician." I needed something more positive--and Steve Hartman (along with The Dodo and some other animal KZread Channels) was it. It's been remarkable watching how Steve's Kindness activities have mushroomed. I'm thrilled for him and for those who have appeared in his stories. I don't do jealousy; but when I see someone like Steve who has clearly found what he is supposed to be doing in this life, on this planet, I could almost feel envious. And thanks a million for making sure that these videos appear on KZread. I live outside the U.S., and none of the cable companies here have CBS, and I won't pay for a streaming service. If not for KZread, I never would have watched Steve and shared his videos with my ESL students here.

I'm so old, I watched this same segment when Charles Kuralt did them, traveling around the country in an old RV. Steve has carried on Charles' legacy quite well. It is a nice relief from the rest of the news, as well as a great reminder that an act of kindness doesn't have to make the news in order to impact someone's life. It can be as simple as holding a door, having what seems to be an unimportant conversation in a doctor's waiting room, or picking up a hurt animal on the side of the road and getting it help. No great sacrifice is required to smile at someone or have a kind word for someone having a bad day.

OMG. Ethan broke my heart when he talked about his father. Sadly, I can relate. I am in my 60's now, and my father has passed. However, the pain is always with you regardless of how old you are. Especially when you have male siblings who really needed a strong and loving father. Thank God my mother (who is still doing well) made up for my father's absence by being the best mother ever. She was and still is our family's rock.

The little boy made me cry soooooooooo much!!! The father he never had😢😢😢😢😢
This was VERY inspiring & well needed commentary on the importance of doing & showing acts of kindness. Although, the story the little boy told about his parents being divorced made me sad. I love the reasons he gave on why his bus driver meant alot to him, and although he articulated his feelings in a mature manner, it hurrts me that he is subjected to issues that a child shouldn't have to be privy to or worry about. But on to a funny note, the little boy sleep on the bus with his mouth open 😴 made me burst into laughter 🤣🤣🤣🤣. I felt his sleepiness down in my spirit😩🤭🤭🤭
Thank you for bringing these stories that fill the hearts of many and gives us all a sense that kindness still going strong in the world
I Love Steve H. And his kindness series kept me sane during Covid. I volunteer at my local middle school, math and science tutoring. I feel connected, I don’t have children, never wanted children. But my mother was a teacher, lord, a generation of potential doctors, scientists, mathematics….gone. I went from alone to a community. I am shy, but maybe find people like me. Teaching, to be able to tutor, changes lives.
I can have a tilt toward pessimism, hard truths, and deep sobering messages. I felt so heavy today. I literally typed in “positive news”. This popped up. This is so encouraging and inspiring. Thank you
He presents ideas that are common sense but we forget to think about so that we can more forward. Thank you Steve Heartman👏👏👏👏♥️😊

The Gift of Kindness is Heart 's most beautiful Gift =Compassion!
What a great program! Every story was filled with love and kindness, and all of them were inspiring! It really makes a viewer start thinking, "I wonder what I could do?"
What an uplifting program. I think we are seeing so many gifts of kindness. People watch and feel so good that they want to do acts of kindness. More and more of these acts are highlighted and I feel it is having an impact on society. We went out to dinner on New Years and just waiting to be seated I saw people go out of their way to open doors, to say Happy New Years. There was an incredible feeling in the air and people were chatting with strangers. It was palpable.
We need more of this!!!!
This reminds me of the movie Pay It Forward. I think it come out in the late 80s or 90s. Yes one act of kindness can spread and is much needed in this world. Thank you for doing this for so many. Your a Blessing from God. Shows we all are human
