Always occurred to me that Ghouls who were alive before the Great War would have to be some of the most terrifying people to have to fight, as most of them would have literally two to two and a half centuries of survival and combat experience.

Yeah, I like that this show captures that. Like, these people have survived through utter hell. We forget how much worse civilization was before the start of the series, where things are stabilizing somewhat. These people survived the worst of it and they're still going

Honestly this whole ghoul awakening scene is so sick. Love this superstitious almost paranormal vibe too waking up essentially an immortal disgruntled badass.

i always thought that The Ghoul is a reference to The Courier, his style and his actions looked and played a lot like an NV Cowboy build. Lucy is much closer to The Lone Wanderer. not sure about Maximus tho.

Justified one of the best TV shows ever

The fact that he was a Marine before the Explosions and survived the double centuries just by scavanging and bounty hunting makes him one of the fiercest and dreadful characters of the Fallout series.

Paramount needs to take some fucking lessons. GOD this show is so good.

Ghouls live a ridiculously long time. Even in the games, you meet ghouls who were around before the bombs dropped.

Ghouls don’t age, nor do they experience decomposition in the same way. They may look dead and rotting, but they’re very much alive. They do experience the effects of time, however; a ghoul whose been alive and awake for over two hundred years usually goes Feral, which is what it’s called when the Brain finally just rots away due to all the radiation their bodies are saturated with. It’s not necessarily inevitable, but it happens to all of them eventually, and there is no cure. Think of it a bit like Dementia, save whereas Dementia just shuts down the brain, Ghoulifcation ensures there isn’t even a brain left to shut down.

Come to think about it…… The Ghoul had himself placed in the ground and had payed the Don Pedro to keep the Spice flowing.

@@Maverick9k Lore breaking change like the bombs dropping at night in Dead Money instead of the morning, oh wait, that New Vegas and written by Chris Avellone, that means it can't be lore breaking, Fallouts 1 and 2 were just wrong. Or maybe lore breaking like Jet being present in that same sealed pre-war casino. Or maybe lore breaking like Mrs. Bishop getting addicted to Jet before it was ever invented (Jet is not merely meth, it is a special kind of meth that involves irradiated Jenkem). Ghouls go feral because too much radiation will eventually melt their brain. The idea of Radaway prolonging a ghoul's brain capacity is not against the lore like the examples (from Fallout 2 and New Vegas) mentioned above.

I still want to know why the Ghoul became so damn evil considering who he used to be. I mean I get that the wasteland changes people and they made that point very clearly. But damn, he enjoys being vicious.

Some people already have it in them, just kinda lying dormant. And a lot of actors are people with heavy leanings towards Cluster B personality traits already. Some people don't need to be changed themselves to embrace the worst of humanity, they just need a change of environment to excuse it.
