The Geth Drop Ship | Mass Effect Lore

Ойындар

The Geth Drop Ship - The work horse of the Geth fleet.
Designed with non organic artificially intelligent control in mind, The Geth Drop Ship also serves as a light cruiser for the Geth Fleet.
In this video I will give my analysis and observations of what many describe as a hornet without wings, an ominous and devastating assault vessel that operates as the main working force of the entire Geth consensus.
This is part two of my series on the Lore of starships within the Mass Effect universe. Enjoy!

2:49 "... But Geth Efficiency is clearly beyond most organics...." Well, it is a true statement. Especially when considering the race that built them, the Quarians. The Geth may have originally been built en masse as near-sla*** to the Quarians, and did successfully rebel. But Quarian engineering shows through even centuries later. The Quarian Migrant Fleet runs much the same way, on efficiency. Quarians are sent out from their birth ship and expected to return with something of value to help the fleet, whether that be knowledge, parts, a new temporary place to for the fleet to go, medicine, etc. Anything the Quarians can recycle or retool, they will, because they have too. It's their way, and that can't have just come about solely after the Geth overthrew them, that level of engineering and efficiency would have to have been present well before the Geth, or the Quarians wouldn't have been able to survive.

That’s an excellent point! Glad I was sure to say “most” haha. This will be something to really delve into when I get to videos breaking down the Geth and Quarians. Thanks for excellent comment 🤗

@@MTJDisorder That rabbit hole gets pretty deep. Especially when you consider that in base Mass Effect 3 (absolutely none of the DLC, or supplemental games for that game, I never bought them), if you (as the Ultimate Paragon, which is the only playthrough of 3 I've done, so i don't know neutral it renegade routes) prepare the Quarians as best as possible before Earth, there is literally a small conversation that happens just before either Earth or getting peace between them and the Geth (i don't remember which, nor if it's also a codex entry) where some people talk about how the Quarians have turned literally hundreds of their largest population ships essentially into Dreadnought class ships cuz of all the weapons added to them, utterly blowing away the Council Dreadnought convention of 5-3-1 Dreadnoughts for Turians-Other Council Species-Every one else, respectively. And that "thank [insert worship of species speaking] the Quarians are on our side for this." If I remember correctly, as of the beginning of ME1, the Turians only have about 35 Dreadnoughts active. Also, I think it was mentioned in the Quarian fleet missions of ME2 that (at the time) outfitting giant guns onto those ships would be highly illegal by council law. It was a side quest to the main mission there that one of the admirals wanted to do iirc. This again just goes to show how skilled of engineers the Quarians actually are.

i think the sad truth is the art department had only the budget for 2 models, the fighter aand the drop ship, so they just expanded the drop ship model for cruisers and the dreadnaught its a cool design, and it does make sense that the geth might prefer one utilitarian design that they can simply scale to streamline production, but i think its the same story with the reapers, development crunch means copy paste. thats why we get the human reaper, then they drop the idea of each reaper looking like its host species because an army of unique godzilla sized robot alien zombies was too much to make ME3s release date. same with the get dreadnaught, just use the same drop ship asset but bigger

Yeah there will always be inconsistencies like that especially in a game franchise. I just love Mass Effect so much I try to present my lore series as though it’s an in universe documentary. At least as much as I can.
