You never seen Scholes?? Imagine if Liverpool had Scholes instead of Gerrard think of the trophy’s you would of won! Scholes controlled the game . Sometimes played laidback but that’s coz he he great players around him an was gonna be a obvious win but if struggling Scholes became the greatest player In the world and I’m a Liverpool fan

a lot of them actually. there's the ricky villa final, the montgomery final, the matthews final, the cantona final, there are like 5 finals called the drogba final. which include a league cup final, an fa cup & a champions league final. infact chelsea actually call drogba "mr final" cause of his insane performance record in them. honestly most finals are named after a players perfromance in pretty much every competition in the world..

Well, there are very few that are better at each skills Gerrard have, but none of them had it all, and no one can add multiple position with Anchor and False 9 at world class level, and no one has done it in the same game as often as Gerrard, and no one had ever done it in Finals. A legend among legends.

@@AgentRafa he have two weaknesses, but if didn’t have these two, he would be a player any club in the world would sell a star after saving in one transfer window and triple his salary. Dribbling and flair, as AM dribbling is very important, with flair he will cut through them, Gerrard isn’t known well for his dribbling and so his patterns show up more frequently when attacking, that’s how AC Milan shut him down on the long shots. While there are some situations Gerrard can be considered to have flair, but they are very rare in between even at his prime. So when you pair him with someone who can dribble like Fowler, Owen, Torres, Coutinho, Suarez and Sterling, the result is terrifying. Basically they cover Gerrard weaknesses.

I’ll never forget watching this live. Gerrard’s late equaliser is probably the greatest ever FA cup goal. For the ball to keep that low till it hit the back of the net, from that distance is ridiculous.

He is magic.

Just shows how good Gerrard was. This Liverpool team was bang average and he carried them to this trophy and in Istanbul the year before!

Ok not exactly all the way accurate the team wasn't bang average in 06 and he never carried us the year before he was the driving force but to say carried is just a disrepct to everyone that contributed in getting there and winning it one player doesn't carry a whole team

Not often in life do you come across people like this. Passion, commitment, loyalty, love. He would have played for Liverpool for nothing it meant that much to him. Red blood runs through his veins and always will.

Rafa was a lucky get , started both the Champions League and FA cup with the wrong line ups and Steven Gerrard saved his skin.

Wow, haven’t seen this for a while. I watched this in a hotel basement in Mexico drinking beer on a Thomas Cook work trip. The whole day after that was a blear , luckily enough I was out there with 3 other Red supporters! That trip will stick in the memory forever, and Gerard’s second. Oh my days what a strike like a scud missile . Fantastic final one of the best from two attacking teams on the day 👏🏽

We all remember THAT goal, but the ball for Cisse is world class, the finish on his first goal is outrageous technique that 3 Hislop’s aren’t getting anywhere near. As a total neutral I remember this game like it was yesterday, one of the finest footballing contributions from a single player. “The greatest PL/England midfielder” is entirely opinion based and up for debate, but no one got me out my seat like Stevie G.

Gerrard did a nearly identical pass to set up Peter Crouch, but it was ruled offside. Once is world class, twice is ridiculous.

@Jay Anthony seriously some of the squads obtained in Gerrard's career are embarrassing mate. Put aside when he played with Masch and Alonso with Torres upfront we had some laughable players/coaches in charge. Geza was massive in nearly every game he had to carry the mediocrity of the rest of his team. We'll never have a player like him again and fingers crossed never have to experience such a weak era of shite!

alonso was was not his usual self and the others looked slow, apart from cisse but dear god gerrard was on fire.

This was probably the greatest final in recent times. West Ham were probably the better team in the first 90 mins.
