I could willingly facing death in order to protect others or serve a cause I deeply believe in. I honestly can't imagine caring about glory for even a moment, however.

It's a pretty famous memoir that I read back in the 80's. Naturally the history is colored by the author's experiences. It's not supposed to be a documentary.
