How the matchmaking at 6.0 has changed over the years is really something to see. You went from American teams dominqted by bombers and attackers 3 years ago to now having american teams filled with f4us, p51s and spitfires. Meanwhile german teams have 4 ju288s, 2 me 410s and like 3 fighters. Makes for interesting carry games thats for sure.

It's kinda funny. Back in the day, I was grinding up US/UK, and the 5.0-6.7 BR range was the fucking bane of my existence. Teams were shit, Germans were always above you, and there were one or two He 177s that were still too fast and too high to catch. Impossible to play. These days, I felt like going up Germany again after stopping around 5.3 a few years ago... and now German teams are unplayable. I just wanted to experience what the heck the Ta 152H was all about... but it's not 2019 anymore. Wild.

@@josippetkovic389 the Spitfire is played by Feet pics and he will rat inside that sigma F4U-4B's dogfights because that corsair kinda knows what he doin, so that Squishface can keep the "best spitfire pilot in game" title

The funny thing about the H1 is that your landing flaps generate so much lift that they're actually not that beneficial for when you're trying to land. It almost feels like you've VTOL capabilities lol. It really is something you need to get used to.

Tip from WWII pilots: to prevent nose over while breaking, alternated between left and right breaks. In WT, this translates to: hold break as usual when you land, but also press “q” and “e” and “q” and “e”, etc, until you stop.

that aim tho. I've quite a lot of experience in this thing, but I can't seem to get used to the low velocity of the German cannons. Feels like you're throwing bullets instead of shooting them lol. Gj Defyn.

Not gonna lie, that statement really understates the raw power of this lanky monster. I feel like it should be a phrase reserved for extremely mid or worse planes. Because it carries the demeanor of "Yeah, it's got all the bells and whistles of a plane, but it's more of a convoluted and overglorified paperweight."

Its a good plane when no one tries to dogfight you, or stay on your tail. If something like an 109 locks onto you even if he's 2km below you're dead, and he's never gonna be below you because the p47 climbs like shit

If they fly in a straight line and give you an easy shot then sure, you may live. If they don't dive with you, you're also dead. Unless you camp the airfield like a pussy. Its a shitty, horrible plane, that some very skilled players can make work. Shitty nonetheless

@@caralho5237 You have no idea what you're talking about. P47M climbs at 23.5 m/s at sea level and doesn't start losing HP till about 7 km. it gets to 6 km faster than a Bf 109 F-4. At 6 km a P47M is going to be faster, accelerate faster and even climb faster than a 109 K-4.

@@nahyeahwhatsahandle the stat card lie. Really, sometime when the enemy start camping there airfield i get bored and trie to see if I can reach the supposed top speed of the plane. Fully spaded mind you, and more often than not, (especially with old plane) the stat card is of bye 20-30 km/h. At the altitude stated bye the card, fully closed radiator, not diving/climbing at all

I think of playing the K4 and the Ta152 like im playing COD on Veteran difficulty. 1 wrong move and the bots in F2G's will 1 tap you. Still a beast of an aircraft.

152 isn't that hard of a plane to fly. honestly the F2G-1 requires more skill, if it weren't for the difference in numbers, since the 152 is a better turn fighter, which is not particularly hard to do.

@@pouletbidule9831 yes, BnZ is harder than turn fighting with an airspawn. shocking, I know. I've flown both planes a lot, the F2G-1 definitely punishes you harder for making a mistake than the Ta-152H does.

@@pouletbidule9831 if you overshoot in any plane, unless you're already going like twice the speed of the enemy, they're going to get a gun solution on you for a while. the only way the F2G gets a free run away like that is if he has a massive advantage, at which point *any* plane could get away like that. you have to never put yourself in a situation like that in the first place, which is easier in a plane like a 152 where you can get away with turning, so you don't need a big energy advantage to do anything.

@@rednuclearmc3856 the planes are good and i love the f4 and g6, but it's just that the late G models and K model (also Dora's, but only to 6.0) are often sucked into the 6.0-6.3 bracket of super props, where they often can struggle, and I see too often them not climb at all and just full commit ground attackers on the allied team. I feel like if there was a higher proportion of ta 152s, which are arguably more effective at dealing with super props, ( airspawns are part of that reason), German teams would do better.

@@Feuervix I don't know about that. I don't think the people that spam the ju 288c are people that even care about German props at that br. Ju288c pilots seem to more often just be players that focus on something else, either top tier or ground rb, and are playing it to grind lions. I don't think many bf109/ta 152 pros are the ones spamming the ju288.

Ta152h1 is such a great plane for solo queue, you have a chance to deal with almost any kind of situation in it. The only drawback of the plane for me is how hard it is to keep a cool head and not overplay my hand after picking up a couple of kills. Btw, thanks a lot Defyn for staying active and making this great prop air rb content, the best thing about the game by far.

The 5.7-6.7 bracket is some of the most fun you can have in War Thunder. Unfortunately, I think this bracket broke for everyone with the introduction of the 288. The 288 is a great lions grinder but the 288 is almost exclusively played by people who fly to a base and die or do nothing but bomb the whole match. It makes the bracket unplayable some days. The full lobbies with 7 or 8 fighters always always go good, whether I win or lose, just because it's that much fun. edit: My favorite plane to play in the whole game is the 152H, just because its so balanced and knock outs are so satisfying.

So i haven't played much since February. I played a few hours last week, and decided to jump on today. Generally, I get one or two kills before being eaten alive by the enemy. But today, I kept hearing "target prioritization" in my head and remembered all the stuff you teach in your videos and finished a game with 4 kills and 2 assists. All from not being too greedy and targeting the more dangerous planes first. I generally just go after the first plane I see and get tunnel vision, even though I know there are other enemy planes around. But I decided to have some discipline and peel off when I couldn't get a shot. Felt weird not going after a potentially easy target, but it def helped in the long run as it was one of my best matches ever. And to top it off, I actually had dogfights and it wasn't shooting down planes flying in a straight line because the player was AFK.

Hey Defyn, if 6.0 Germany is causing intense suffering, there's always the IL-2...

Idk what they did this patch, but I’ve been killing AI medium tanks with German 20/30mm Minengeschoss shells. Only takes a couple shots too, unlike light pillboxes. Hoping it isn’t just a bug. Edit: Also, the Shackleton is bugged. It usually stops taking damage from fires once surrounding parts turn black, instead of causing them to break off.

They raised the price to 35k SL shortly after I first unlocked it. I wanted to upgrade it but was broke on SL (I still am) so I flew to space and got like 1 kill in 10 battles. I didn't mind the lost games but I coudn't afford to die with less than 5 kills which I rarely get even with spaded planes.

If you feel a game is unwinnable as the last person left, your best bet is to just land at the airfield and J out. It doesn't count as a death. You'll have a much better time if you play as a support. Don't have to dogfight if you're not confident in your abilities, its still very good strictly supporting your team or bomber hunting. You don't have to be a wasted slot on your team and drag out games for the enemy. Like you aren't going to really get any reward if you don't contribute outside of a tuppence of SL so you're wasting your own time too. If there's at least one other fighter on your team and they're not incompetent most games are winnable, or at least survivable while still helping what's left of your team even if you don't have God aim. Just don't over commit on anyone when there are planes above you and you'll be fine.

That plane is really fun in SB.

About a mile difference in height makes it a very poor choice to go vertical to reach him. If that P-51H climbed up to him, he would have lost a lot of energy (likely to stalling speed) and it would have been a free kill.

@@safty8240 Once again, a mile (~1.2km) difference in height makes a huge difference, especially since he (DEFYN) had more energy and a better chance at a turn in that climb. If the P-51H committed to that climb battle, he would have ended up at a much, MUCH slower speed while the Ta-152 could pull extremely tight circles at those speeds using his landing flaps. DEFYN could have crossed the 51H's nose in that scenario but it would have been very slow if it had decided to climb with the 152 and would require extremely precise timing to get good shots at the 152.

In my experience, the 109s are not really that good (in RBs, at least). They overheat very easily, don't turn very well (compared to ABs), and have rather poor aeronautics. The 190s, in comparison, are much better and more consistent, especially the D-models and the 152s. The A-models are good too, but that radial does present its own problems.

In the 152 it’s better to go straight in, since you don’t have good climb rate. If you sideclimb anyone would be above you so it’s not optimal unless the entire other team stays low

It sucks that 6.0 is an unbalanced mess because of JU288s vs F2Gs. I just avoid it.

Edit: OK, question beloe has been already asked and answered, so you can safely ignore it :P Why would you RTB in Ta-152H while having 262 20mm and 53 30mm? Just climb at 97% throttle to avoid overheating the engine and you're above the enemy. THe only situation where landing is viable is: - damage sustained - v. low ammo Neither is the case.

This things engine intake texture has been bugged for the last few months and Gaijin still has not fixed it.

1 It depends while the H 1 is a great duelist , the C3 is a brutal support plane with its armament and together in a squad they can clean house stupid quick 2 Great sustained turn performance and low stall speeds at the expense of usually bad AoA or initial nose authority and low top speeds due to high parasitic drag 3 player preference, some like to micro manage everything, so don't. Some planes need MEC to stay cool, others don't

@@sherlocksinha2435 should add that (personally) MEC is good for the initial climbing but after that I stick it back into auto control with the exception of some individual aircraft (P-47D-28 and M, and the I-225 where I can just leave one optimal setting on for the rest of the game)

- C-3 is garbage - someone already explain it - MEC is unnecessary but welcome, MEC is not gonna turn you from normal pilot into adolf galland. Throttle control is more than enough.

Early 109's (E-4/E-7, F-4), Ki-61 are alright but just feel like worst 109's to me, 202's are pretty good but lean a bit more toward being turn fighters, early 190's can energy fight decently but a lot more punishing if you make mistakes than the 109's so most people strictly BnZ with it, P-38 used to be an amazing energy fighter but they did change the flight model a while ago so not sure how it performs now, first Corsair can energy fight well just because it drastically outperforms almost everything in its BR range once it gets to altitude (most later Corsairs can only really BnZ), Yak-3 (and P-39 which plays similarly) is an amazing energy fighter at 1.5-3km even though most people just turn fight at ground level or altitude camp at 5k+ where it loses all its performance (which keeps you alive but its unfun lmao), J2M2 and Ki-100 are completely broken at their BR's if you energy fight with them.
