I hope you guys realize how lucky you are to be able to do this. I'm 53 and at 48 I had to have open heart surgery with a triple bypass, heart irrithmia, inherited bad cholesterol, cardio myopathy, congestive heart failure. I can't help but cry. But I watch the videos knowing this is as close as I'll get. Your videos are great for soul. Thank you guys.

Fun to do solo, with your family or just with a group of cool friends. Im always up in the Cohutta and Coopers Creek area myself. It was a great trip and so much fun when doing it with a group of good friends. There’s many mixed feelings about the rooftop tent. They are great because they are off the ground, lots of space and comfortable… however your gas mileage will drop dramatically carrying a RTT. Additionally, if you wanted to just break away from camp and explore some trails or just need to run to the store for something, you have to close up camp and then come back to reset it up. I personally think a better option is the pull behind trailer like Jeepin Bubba had in the Cohutta. It still has the RTT but you can disconnect it from the Jeep, leave it at camp and do what you need to do.

That was an awesome video! Can’t wait to try that route ourselves!

They were absolutely beautiful. We knew the “tentative area” we wanted to be in and the landscape qualities we wanted in a campsite, so while traveling, we would keep our eyes open for spots we wanted.

that fan in the window thing was pretty slick. Maybe if you haven't already do a walk thru from ground to top of your setup and what all you use and have done to your jeep. Its a cool setup and can learn alot. I see you did the walkthrough of the roof top tent yellow point. Just subscribed and see you have a playlist for Jeep Upgrades and a playlist for Product Reviews. The Mr Buddy is nice but not good in windy conditions. Like in your jeep or a small trailer is fine. It has good safety features too as CO sensor and tip over shut off. I have a small overland enclosed trailer with a Predator 3500 generator, so I chose to also purchase a cheap Walmart ceramic heater that really pumps out some heat and you dont have to worry about poison gas or propane however, it does take some power, about 1600watts of it. Im def adding this trip to my bucket list! Looks amazing!

This is a really easy and very scenic trek. A great way to see all of North Georgia - from the Chattahoochee National Forest to the Cohutta Wilderness and through parts of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Let me know when you guys head up this way. I may not be able to do the full Traverse with you guys but I’ll definitely try and meet up for part of the leg with you

What a truck man.... #dreamoverlander I Don't think you would have an issue at all with your Military Truck. The majority of the GT is forest roads, wide enough for forestry vehicles and easily traveled with any other high clearance vehicles. I would just make sure you include in your pack out a chainsaw or the ability to clear large debris from the road. We encountered many large trees across the road and tried to clear out as much as we could. There is dispersed camp sites scattered all throughout the GT with many sites large enough for several vehicles, so your larger Military Vehicle would find a home for the evening no problem. I would love to see this m1078 in person. When you hit the GT, if you let me know I will come meet you on the trail. I'd love to do a walk around on your rig.

8 minutes in, so far so good. The music just before the Dillard House had me feeling like Liam Neeson was going to appear out of nowhere. Great production value so far. Kudos to the videographer who I know had to get out, setup the shot, run back, repeat - it can be exhausting, so thank your for your sacrifice.

Thank you so much. Like many, I’ve done bits and pieces of the GA Traverse over the last couple of years but wanted to take on the full 4 day length route and film it for other overlanders outside who haven’t spent a lot of time exploring the South East. .

Thank you James. The USB window fans is a solution I created after a camping trip in Tennessee. During that trip, it was hot, muggy and bugs were everywhere. I came home to look up a solution and found a video on KZread where a gentlemen (I don't remember his name) created one of these but he didn't go into detail on what he bought or how he did it. So I studied his video and created a USB ventilation video on my channel showing what to buy and how to do it. My only complaint after using it is that the USB battery pack I have only runs for about 5 - 6 hrs consistently which means it dies in the night. You’re going to love it… I know the power wagon is a bit wider than the jeep but most of the traverse is well maintained forest roads. There shouldn’t be any significant pin striping. The only places that would concern you is if you venture off the road to explore some of the shoot off trails.

Thank you LH. Yes, the 3rd night we stayed at a campsite called The Ball Field in the Cohutta Wilderness. In highly recommend and it’s free. A really cool place today, however there is no running water (rivers or streams). Usually, we always look for accessible water near camp.

@@dannyweber8282 fortunately, I have not had a “good rain fall” while having them in. In the light rain, I have not had an issue but I would assume if it decided to come down, it would come in. there is no guards to keep water out.

What type of comms systems are being used on the east coast? Out here in AZ, we are all gmrs and ham radio users. I will be out in GA, SC, NC, TN next spring and I want to be able to communicate with others on the trails.

Welcome to the East Coast! I haven’t done much wheeling on the West Coast but there are so many amazing areas that is on the bucket list for sure (including AZ and Southern California). Let me know when you are coming to GA and I’ll meet you on the trail. On the East Coast, comms are the same. I have them all in my rig (GMRS, HAM, CB, FRS)… i would say I never use CB. Rarely use HAM (although it’s nice to have the ability for long range). Most commonly is GMRS and if you are rolling with a crew, FRS between rigs.

The IPad is running on its batteries but the red power bank is a 300w Rockpals (cheaper version of the Jackery). I don’t have a Jackery to compare it to but personally, I don’t like the Rockpals. It struggles powering anything other than charging phones and drones. I will be replacing that in the future.

yes, a full size truck could defiantly do this route. This is a very easy route made up of maintained forest roads. Other than a couple of water crossings (estimated 2.5' deep), the only real hiccups you will incur is some down trees across the road. Nothing a Chainsaw and a good winch can't clear out of the way.

What would you recommend for min ground clearance

I would day 99% of the route can be done in any truck, Jeep, even suv. It’s mostly forest roads and aggregate…. However the only part I would be concerned about with lower vehicles would be Charlie’s Creek. Stock Jeeps can pass ok but the water could get over 2’ in sections meaning “lower engine cars” (like a Subaru) would be questionable.

Did you run your heater all night?

Not on this trip. This heater was “cooking” in the small Jeep space and it wasn’t super cold. I turned it on when I got in for about 45 min, cut it off and turned it on in the morning for about an hour. I did do a trip later in the year and left it on all night. On low heat, it ran all night (about 7 hrs). On high heat it was more like 4-5 hrs. While they do say this heater is completely safe for indoors with little to no carbon, I’m still a bit skeptical, however my jeep have very good ventilation vents I built for the windows (you can see these in my video) so I wasn’t worried about this.

With your 12v cooler, how do you have it hooked up so it doesn’t run you jeep battery dead

It’s plugged into the jeep while we are traveling. Then when i park at camp, I plug it into my battery power bank. It was a pain in the butt because the power bank wasn’t sufficient to run this for long amounts of time. It was a cheap Amazon power bank and would never suggest it to anyone. However this year I’ve just acquired a new solution that I think is going to work perfect (only time will tell though). I have a new power bank by Generac. The cool thing about this power bank is that it’s “passive” meaning the power bank is plugged into the jeep, always charging while the car is running and then the refrigerator is plugged into the power bank, running off of the power bank when the car is off. I think this will be a much more efficient solution.

While doing this, I have been evaluating my entire rig set up to make sure it is safe and sound for many of my adventures. there are a couple of bigger trips coming up that I've identified my Jeep could be better equipped. The Road Rash jeep is going through ALOT of updates this year. there are so many updates, I am creating a series called Overlanding Overhaul. This includes: Install new roof rack Install / review new roof top tent Install / review tankless hot water heater Review of power station and solar Install / review new 47qt refrigerator Build Jeep drawer / kitchen inside Install new heavy duty rear tire carrier Install new rear steel bumper It's going to be a great and informative series

Thank you Robby. 🙏🏼 We did this route towards the end of February, just when things were starting to warm up a bit. I would say best time to go is March-ish. Bugs are not so bad and most Forest roads reopen around this time (If you look at The Georgia Traverse on Google Maps, some of the roads / trails in the Cohutta close between Dec and March). I was not worried about CO for a couple of reasons. The MR Heater did extensive testing on CO output and found no alarming data. Also, if you noticed I had my rear windows opened with a homemade bug screen on them. This allowed for circulation or air. While on the trail, we passed many dual sports.

@@robbydawson5003 The Dual Sports looked really really cool while passing. If I had one, I'd do that adventure for sure. The only thing I would be cautious about is a couple of the water crossings. I think Charlies Creek can get up to about 2.5' deep... I don't know how forging water works with dual sports but other than that, NO issues with a Dual Sport on this track.

Don't make the same mistakes as others... We want to c the rigs,nature,water crossing. No that much of cooking or faces on the cameras. Info of the trails mods to the rigs etc.👍

There are plenty of channels that have that.... and I shoot a lot of video that also has "just trail rides".... but I would have to disagree with you. As someone who watches my backend analytics ALOT, currently I have over 50k views on this lifestyle video of people watching the overlanding journey and experience while a lot of my other trail videos are consistently 3k. Additionally, I consistently speak with many other successful overland channels that inspire me (those with 100k + subscribers) and ask them advice on my content and how to grow my channel. One of the number one answers is "people want to follow the lifestyle journey..... it's what keeps them coming back". Since I started doing this, my views go up and subscribers go up. So to clarify your original statement, change the word "we" to "I"..... "I" want to c the rigs, nature, water crossings. I appreciate your feedback and always welcome creative criticism from viewers. It is what has helped me grow my channel quickly thus far.

@@RoadRashOffRoad Neither of them matches the song played in the beginning. It's also at 1:02:07 unless I'm tone deaf. Sorry for being pushy about it. I've heard this song somewhere before in the past. I'm trying to figure out where. It's been bothering me that I can't find it lol. Also, I believe I'm your 800th sub btw.

We had chainsaws for trees. The good thing is the downed trees across the road had been evidently cleared by a group ahead of us.

I’ve seen many many trucks. The GA Traverse is a very friendly trail. The only “sketchy “ part for trucks would be Charlie’s Creek with the water crossings but they are not terribly deep (maybe 2 ft or so)

All I see are praises for the video---and I'm happy for you that many enjoyed it, BUT I do believe one learns best by "constructive" criticism---which I hope you don't mind I interject here. FOR ME, I guess I expected to see MORE---and I mean in the sense of actually "seeing" the actual TRAVERSE. In other words, I expected the focus to be on the hazards encountered, ie, truck issues while traversing certain areas, or issues ON THE TRAIL, or anything to do with the TRAVERSING of this outdoor adventure. BUT WHAT I GOT was the focus on CAMPING AND SOCIALIZING and WAY TOO MUCH OF FILMING YOURSELF!!! A great thing for a HOME VIDEO, but it should not be the FOCUS for a video with your TITLE. Some will disagree I'm sure, but that's just my two cents. Your response to someone that you're "learning" is perfect. And I respect that answer very much, SO KEEP AT IT AND HOPE TO SEE MORE IN THE FUTURE. By the way, I guess the main reason I expected more when I saw the title is that I've yet to see the whole TRAVERSE documented on film from beginning to end---in the way I described above. But at least I applaud your attempt. It's all about the FOCUS---it's that simple. TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT---JUST A FRINEDLY COMMENT---HOPE TO SEE YOU OUT THERE!-[LOOK FOR A BLUE HUMMER----yeah, crazy!]--LOU

Lou.... First, I want to thank you very much for your constructive criticism. As a "creative" who is always looking to better my craft, I WELCOME it from everyone. Yours is especially welcomed because it was defiantly thought out and constructive. Some other people are just criticism, and with that, I thank you. Regarding my channel (and this video particularly), I am new at this and always learning. I learn by watching KZreadrs that inspire me like TrailRecon, Epic Family Road Trip, Casey250, Venture4WD and Venture2Roam... many of which have become friends of mine coaching me through my content process. If you know anything about these channels, they are all Overlanding Lifestyle channels. They film their adventures while exploring a destination (in my case, exploring the Georgia Traverse). For me personally, I am an adventurous explorer and overlanding happens to be my hobby. I'm exploring and filming along the way and I find many people are interested in The adventure of a trail as well as the lifestyle that goes along with it... Like the other KZreadrs I listed above, It's literally what sparked my interest to get out and explore and to learn what gear I needed (and don't need) to get started - the rest I learned by getting out and doing it. Regarding the actual Georgia Traverse, there are no hazards experienced other than some down trees and / or water crossings (all included in my video). The Traverse is a very very simple route made up of maintained gravel forest roads and about 1/3 of the route is pavement winding through the mountains. With the exception of the water crossings, I would say almost any average 2-Wheel drive SUV could do this route so in reality, the only hazards are down trees in the road and forging rivers. There are no dangers on the Traverse. People do the Traverse to escape civilization and enjoy the beauty of the North Georgia Mountains - hence the lifestyle. I have other videos that highlight popular trial specifics and what to expect on these roads if someone is exploring for the first time. There are a lot of praises on this video and I am very thankful that people are enjoying my content. I believe these people (like me) are just looking to learn and / or escape their living room for just a moment and ride the Georgia Traverse with me, so I take them along for the ride. I am always in the Cohutta. It's one of my favorite places in North Georgia. I will keep an eye out for the Blue Hummer. It would be cool to catch you on the trails and include that beast in my videos.

Nice video. Too much selfie time though. We don’t wanna see your ugly mug and bad haircut. Give us more scenic views and rig overview.

In all seriousness, my channel is still fairly new and I always learn so much from viewers constructive criticism (or advice / direction). Ultimately, it makes me a better content creator.
