Spoilers for ALL!! That being said, man I can’t wait for Made In Heaven’s anime adaptation. Despite Part 6 having a fairly tame anime thus far, I hope they’ve saved the best batch for last. What do you guys think of Part 6 so far? Personally, I think it’s been really stiff, relies a LOT on Araki’s panelling throughout, imo. Would love to hear your opinions below, though!

The first batch was stiff when came out in my opinion. While the second batch did a fantastic job of adapting the middle part of the story. Especially limp biscuit arc they added more scenes and and it flow perfectly. But that's my take

Yeah, I've been pretty disappointed in the Part 6 adaptation too, I've been getting the impression from it that the David Production higher ups just want to push it out to finish the original continuity. I guess after so long of hearing people hate on Part 6 I've been hoping for the past few years that an anime adaptation would finally shut those people up... but it seems like that hasn't really been happening.

I like that Araki could do any setting genre, I wouldn’t even be surprised if Part 9 is cyberpunk version of Golden Wind + Stone Ocean. (Wait I made that up on the fly but the crime and security themes + shady organization/corporations fits)

OH. MY. GOD. I kept thinking about what if Part 9 was set in the future, but a _Cyberpunk JoJo part?_ That. That would be incredible. Edit: tbh I don't think it's Araki's style + it's also too political, I'd much rather have a fanfic or spin-off by someone else of a Cyberpunk city + stands.

I think it's strange to call Kakyoin's death "an experiment in killing off a protagonist" when Jonathan dies in pt 1, and Caesar dies in pt 2 I'd argue those 2 characters are more central protagonists than Kakyoin is in pt 3
@ernestoirrazabal6594

I agree, Jonathan's death introduces the idea that not even the main protagonist is safe from fate in this series. Caesar's death Introduces the idea that no matter how much a character grows and shares with others, it is still vulnerable to a tragic cruel death at ANY time, and this has a real emotional impact in other characters. This may seem as tiny insignificant things, but they change the way we expect the future fights to go. Now every single encounter can end with the end of a character.

I love the fact araki does whatever the hell he wants. there's no doubt there's stress to the job, but also I think araki is a bit more free than other mangakas. he does what inspires him, not exactly what makes 100% sense. I think only he could come up with something like jojolion and have the balls to take the concept of "hey let's redo an earlier thing of mine but alchemy" and run with it. especially since araki has shown to really like part 4, I think he just wanted to revisit it and I'm so glad hes one of the only people that can do that and still make money
Unpopular opinion: I actually really liked Phantom Blood! Mainly because Phantom Blood is a Gothic horror story that takes place in 1800's England dealing with Vampires. And as a Dracula fan, that really appeals to me. I love the story of Part 1 too, and (I'm serious here) I love the character of Jonathan Joestar. Yeah, he may be a little bland, but I have a soft spot for goody two shoes heroes like Jonathan. And specially in this age of anti-heroes or super hero deconstruction that I am so tired of, a goody two shoes like Jonathan, is honestly kind of refreshing. Battle Tendency was great too. Even better than part 1! It's also a story that I find appealing. And I love Joseph Joestar, he's hilarious! I'm currently reading Stardust Crusaders, and I think it might the the best part so far. Really loving it!

All parts are good, it's just that they're practically all different genres, and because of that there aren't many people who can really enjoy all parts equally, and love the series as a whole without a couple asterisks. Having said that, this is the internet we're talking about, and if someone doesn't like something even slightly, then clearly it's garbage lol.
@sonpanchan
Жыл бұрын
Yeah Phantom Blood with all it's flaws does have it's charm and I think the victorian gothic horror and the tragedy that befalls Jonathan is what makes the story for me. It has some Dracula and Castlevania feel to it which I really love. Character wise I think outside Jonathan and Dio (whose relationship is what drives the story) and Will Zeppeli himself the other characters aren't that developed even Erina and Speedwagon who get a bit more character in Battle Tendency. As for Jonathan Araki did admited in his JoJonium interview that he didn't develop Jonathan more than the archetypical type of hero and that he created him to serve as a mirror to Dio (the character he was really interested in writing). That and the fact that Phantom Blood is so short I think didn't leave much for Jonathan to develop, but IMO the manga at the least does have enough to show that Jonathan was more than a "goody two shoes" hero. He's a lonely spoiled rich kid who engage in boxing fights with other kids for money, he steals his father's pipe and asks other kids to smoke with him (something which isn't shown in the Anime), after Dio starts messing with his life he becomes even lonelier and more miserable as he loses Danny, everyone in his life turns on him, and his father has a preference for Dio. Yet even at his lowest moment when he's hungry and crying about his misery and missing a mother that he never met, finding a half-eaten chocolate bar makes Jonathan extremely happy to the point he forgets his problems. Then much later after he meets Dio at Wind Knight's lot he confesses to him that what he wants the most is to kill Dio in revenge for all the people he killed and it's the most raw and very much the opposite of what you expect a noble character like Jonathan to have but it humanizes him too. But yeah there just wasn't enough to expand on Jonathan's character even though years later Araki uses Johnny Joestar to expand on some of the things he didn't explore with Jonathan (because SBR allows for an in depth character exploration of Johnny and how his isolation, his father preferring another son over him, and just about every misfortune that befalls him affects his character).
Angelo, the first serial killer in Part 4, was actually named after the composer of Twin Peaks soundtrack Angelo Badalamenti :0

Spoiler warning for part 8! With regards to Jojolion I’d like to disagree with the take that “it just ends”. The stand controlling the flow of calamity and its curse are destroyed, Josuke finds his identity and find his family to be his to make not one that he needs to find, and some of the most amazing character writing and story writing is finalized in the end. Jobin is one of my favorite examples riding the line between an antagonist and a protagonist throughout the entire story his intentions and reasons are made known all up until the final battle. I truly believe it’s one of the best parts (though steel ball run is my favorite).

Part 8 is great, but I feel like the pacing is perfect at first then messes up later. It slows down to a bit boring after a bit, then suddenly speeds up to the end, with dropped plot points, like karera never re-appearing, characters like kei showing up right at the end just to die, Holly never being saved even though Josuke made it clear that was his goal, the flashback man never being brought up again. Toru is also the weakest villain. Other villainshave appeared close to the end, like diavolo for example, but at least right at the start you know that they were going to fight the boss and that he's evil. With part 8, it's nevereven hinted that there's a big leader of the e rock humans, and Toru doesn't have many bad things hes showing doing, or much personailty or goals, other than just more power. There's even a page of the manga saying, all events happened because of this man, as if the manga needs to make sure you realise this is supposed to be the villain, because it's just not made clear

I discovered JoJo thanks to a classmate in school, back in late-2010 or around 2011. Yes, I was one of those lucky people that discovered JoJo before the anime. And back in those days JoJo only had very crummy fan translations.(Duwang) Your video is well put together and edited. Keep it up. :)
I've always understood that the universe from the end of part 6 is just the regular universe. Pucci died in the process of creating the new one, so it reverted back to the old one. The characters that died have different identities, but the same soul they had before. This is backed up by Pucci saying that the souls of the dead don't "pass over" to the new world. Pucci died in the new world, leaving behind his soul in the collapsing universe. great video BTW.
Man, experiencing the lead up to and uncertainty leading up to a new part is really nice

I have to commend this video for something that many many JoJo videos fail to do. Focus on the series as a MANGA and not the anime. Especially with the use of manga panels and artwork that far outshines anything in the anime adaption. The anime is great and all but it's still a product that hinges on monetary incentives. The vast majority of work on it is by people doing their jobs and just a handful of true fans. The manga is nothing less than the passion child and true vision of one person.

While i want araki to be kind to himself with regards to overworking, he seems to have the status and wherewithall to afford himself that. Its really sad the way that manga is treated in japan and the culture of work constantly. But he takes breaks between parts and doesnt seem to give a shit how long his parts take which gives him time to wind down and also take in new culture and media to adapt and synthesize. But i hope he doesnt end it at 9. Id rather he continue jojos even if its bad rather than try to create something else. Like if he ends jojos with 9 and retires for good, great, but if he goes and does something else id likely be pretty sad.
Although you could say that jojolion was just a re-make of part 4 just more adult friendly I'd disagree since it had lots of themes that were found in part 5 and maybe even 7 of a Mafia trying to obtain this new fruit. I personally really enjoyed it and it's my favorite part and it has some very good characters like jobin, Josuke, norisuke, mamezuku Rai and yasuho aswell as some really well written and impactful scenes like when josefumi was trying to save kiras life but at the end of the day it's all just jojo's and it's something you really fall in love with and cherish
I recently started to get into Jojo. At 34. First part was....unique. tho as the pillar men or whatever the fuck they were reaches its final battle and that theme song kicks in in the background going JOOOOOOOOOOOO! JO! fucking slaps as the final battle goes on...loved it. I cannot get past the first part of the stands. There's so much seeming filler....I dunno if I can continue. This part does have a lot of episodes, and to be fair, the first part didn't REALLY grab me towards the end. So, perhaps I'll preserve. Perhaps there's hope. So far, Hamon shits all over stands. And why does Joseph totally change in old age. He's not even the same dude. (I haven't slept in 24 hours. I should stop now) Enjoyed this vid tho.

part 3 has no pacing problems
Just to correct, generational storylines and arcs has been told many times. These are what we known as the mythologies and the like. In a way Jojo is trying to reach that scale. It even featured Jesus once.
What if Araki made a zeppeli family member the main character in Jojolands?
maybe part 10 will be the end
Actually, for part 4 Araki was inspired by the fact that Japan had many serial killers at the time, and he also had ideas for stands that didn't fit part 3 but we're better suited for a city. Thus, part 4 was born
Gene Gene, made a machine and Jo Jo may go. He blew a fart and blew a hole and blew the whole damn city apart.
