The Gear List ep. 3 (PSA post 500 round burn. Lets see how she held up)

Ойын-сауық

Welcome back you guys! his video is pretty short and boring if you don't care about the current series or the upper were testing. I apologize for that, but this video is to document wear and tear after a very quick 500 round range session. There is more shooting coming I promise. Hope to see you guys in the next one. Well catch you around.

Finish is obviously not going to last forever on any rifle but it isn't just for looks and it is important. The finishes on these guns are typically nitride, phosphate(Parkerizing), or anodizing(if its an aluminum part). All of those are to prevent corrosion, increase surface hardness, improve friction coefficient(i.e. "lubricity"), or a combination of all three. That is to say they are important to long term durability and function of the rifle. Even if you got the gun hot the finishes shouldn't be failing all over the gun after only 500 rounds of semi-automatic fire. I get it, dudes want a "battle worn finish" to show that they train with their rifle so guys have been conditioned to view their finish as an aesthetic feature but the truth is it is important and you should care especially in an evaluation such as the one you're doing. If the finishes are failing across multiple parts this early the gun will experience parts failures sooner than a rifle that has more durable finish.

@@armorers_wrench honestly dude i knew none of that, so thank you for commenting. I have no idea what the difference between finishes are aside from corrosion or rust prevention on the barrel and than maybe wear prevention on mating surfaces. I never realized though that they help maintain long term durability of the system. I appreciate the comment hopefully we can talk more

I just got a dagger for funsies. I don’t get to shoot it until next week but I’ve already got the trigger pin to start walking out just dry firing it. I’m going to try and put 200 rounds a month on it without cleaning it and see how long it lasts.

@@1GruntZPOV yeah hopefully that’s as far as they move if not I’ll have to figure out a way to stake them or something lol. I’m not really interested in playing the rma game so if it falls apart I’ll just rig it back together and run it until it dies lol. If it works out then it’ll just be something for the kids to shoot at the range.

@@itsamk18-ishsolid idea dude, im not a fan of the RMA game either, i hate how long it seems to always take. I need to figure out a discord or something so people who watch and have issues like this can send them to me. Id love to see it and help you potentially fix the issue.

@@paulbaerwald8055 no sir, its PSAs phosphate line. I wanted to test the cheapest barrel they have in order to give beginners the best “review” of their cheapest option.
